Confused about how this works. Will any faction of "medieval" tech level get the backstories or does it only target VFE medieval faction specifically and youd have to patch any other medieval mods for them to work?

@Corky's Saucy Mussels This mod doesn't add the backstories by itself. Using VFE - Medieval is a soft requirement for pawns to spawn with them as I mentioned in the description.
They should show up by using e.g. Character Editor.

Im not getting an error, but these just dont show up when I try to make a Renegade Lord start colony. I only get the vanilla tribal ones.

Any ideas why?

I mean, I have tested it multiple times. It works on my side, I don't even get errors. And even the errors that are shown here in the comments shouldn't make much impact. I have even asked for help in one of the modding Discord channels and it's correct. There is one small duplicate trait in there, but that doesn't make a difference.

My RimWorld version is 1.5.4104. This is the version written in the top left corner in the main menu screen.

I'm sorry but these errors are referring to the code that is visible in the folder that is available for RimWorld 1.4. Or I did something wrong on my end with these 2 folders, but I don't think so. I just tested it in 1.5 and it works all good, no errors on my side. Are you sure you're running 1.5?

After a lot of struggling and updating via another pc I was finally able to fix the 1.5 patch.Thanks for all the patience.

Yea, I'm sorry. I have fixed it, but Steam Workshop is having issues with some people. I can't update the mod with the fix... Please be patient for Steam to allow me to update it.

@AssassinsBro, that might just mean the workshop is struggling, probably due to 1.5. You could try again in an hour or so.

@AssassinsBro just a heads up, looks like you haven't updated your backstories to the new format when updating to 1.5.

You might want to check the migration guide here, there's a regex you can use to quickly update them to the new format. [rimworldwiki.com] You'll also want to set up a versioned folder so you don't break the mod for 1.4.

Have you considered adding these backstories to pawns in Medieval Overhaul? I think it's necessary for a medieval run but unfortunately the pawns can't use the backstories from this mod.

@NSAplsdon't,I believe tribal backstories doesn't need HAR as dependancy, as I took that one for inspiration how they fixed their dependency.

@(≡◉‿‿◉≡). I got approval from the mod author. I only removed the dependancy of HAR. Not really changed anything other than that. If there will be an alternative in the future you can just disable this one and add the other one, or use them both if they don't add the same stuff.

@AssassinsBro Hello, So if you remove this after the author updated his or created a new mod without HAR. The game would require a replacement right. Would the game still detect the other mod as an alternative mod?

I'm just cautious because the game might not even consider the author's mod as an alternative. You didn't removed too much coding/dependencies right?

HAR is a great mod, but it can be a pain to deal with. Thank you for your effort in making this mod more accessible!

@Delta1138 I'm not really planning to patch anything, I really only removed the the HAR dependency as there was demand for it. As stated in the original description, VFE - medieval adds the ability to spawn pawns in the world.

@divineDerivative or you just manually add the Medieval backstory tags to the appropriate modded factions, I had this same discussion with Shauvius a few years back, I ended up making this exact mod + classical backstories + samurai/edo backstories for pawns without requiring HAR some 18 months ago.

@AssassinsBro consider adding a patch which either replaces or adds the above mentioned backstory tags to some factions or they won't appear "naturally" outside of a player contrived character editor creation.

@Voro, you can use Cherry Picker to remove certain aspects like backstories from the game. Never tried it with anything other than items tho. Good luck!

File names mean nothing. You would just need factions/pawnkinds that use the Medieval tag in their backstory settings.
