An excellent addition. Fairly non-intrusive, but fun.

Hmm, true. Didn't think of it that way.
JNR  [author] 9 Nov, 2024 @ 5:10pm
It's no different than artists and musicians already getting points from the Theater Square itself.
MarshmallowBear 9 Nov, 2024 @ 2:31pm
So Lighthouse generate Explorer points, but the first available one is in Medieval? Which would be fine but with 6T it means that Post-Classical has no people so that is going to be one pricey second explorer xD
evcastello 15 Oct, 2024 @ 3:40pm
Vasco needing to be on a city state tile accompanied by a naval unit is kind of a pain.
JNR  [author] 22 Jun, 2024 @ 2:24pm
lol yea copying special characters between the mod tools, the files the game ends up using, and the steam description is always annoying.
Bob 21 Jun, 2024 @ 4:11pm
I'm so glad that Elon's next unborn child, Väinö Auer, is finally in the game.

I’m plating with the improvement patch mod, which adds a bit of «flavor» to the policies, so they stand out a bit next to the ones added by other mods, such a this one ;

I looked the code but then remembered I understand almost nothing about it lol
Where and what should I add if I want to put a little bonus of some sort to the policy ?
JNR  [author] 18 Jun, 2024 @ 2:31pm
I'm also working on a fix for Kizell btw, but will take a bit more time because the effect used there is weird and requires extra steps to function in this context.
NuDDen 18 Jun, 2024 @ 11:30am
Thank you for fixing!!

John Kizell: Gain 100 Science for every Floodplains tile in this city. Instantly grants a Settler unit if the city has no Floodplains tiles.

I just tried it with Egypt in a city next to a river with many floodplains tiles and it didn't give me any science except the settler, bug or am I doing something wrong?

For consideration... support for Coastline mod's Mangrove and Seagrass features on Jacques Cousteau would be nice.
Nandybear 12 Apr, 2024 @ 6:15am
Sacagawea needs a change:

('JNR_EXPLORER_BREATHTAKING_PLOT_SCIENCE', 'Amount', 100, 'ScaleByGameSpeed'),

Should be

('JNR_EXPLORER_BREATHTAKING_PLOT_SCIENCE', 'Amount', 200, 'ScaleByGameSpeed'),

thanks

Really love this!

not yet but hopefully with next update

有汉化吗?老铁们?Does it has Simplified Chinese?
Nandybear 4 Mar, 2024 @ 8:50am
Thematically you could maybe kinda ish argue it lol. Prophets are just...explorers of the soul. BOOM! Nailed it! But nah fair enough, I wasn't really thinking thematics, just number-go-up
JNR  [author] 4 Mar, 2024 @ 5:41am
Would that make sense thematically though? Also, I assume that people who play with new modded GP types might also play with Theologians.
Nandybear 4 Mar, 2024 @ 1:42am
I had an idea for where to give points: convert great prophet points to this once a religion is found (I don't know enough about modding to know if this is possible btw) and/or anything that would give GPP after, say, the first building, so temple and whatever other level 2/3 buildings in religion, they still give GPP even though by that point everyone has a prophet. Switch those to give explorer points instead.

Very nice @Plati . And @mikegus if you are looking for the mod I was talking about it is here .
JNR  [author] 17 Jan, 2024 @ 6:25pm
here on the workshop or what? Not sure why you're asking here.
mikegus 17 Jan, 2024 @ 2:59pm
I can't find the Great Philosophers mod.
Plati 17 Jan, 2024 @ 12:06pm
Made compatibility mod that adds great people portraits . Happy with JNR integrating it into this mod.
Bearus Aurelius 9 Jan, 2024 @ 1:59pm
Ahh I see what you mean. 'Unique Fatigue' as you put it, is definitely not an easy thing to change but I think you are on the right path with this mod for sure. No pun intended.
JNR  [author] 9 Jan, 2024 @ 6:36am
> Of course my Philosophers basically all provide permanent boosts

So do all my Great People, too, outside of the Great Explorers. There's nothing wrong with making mods follow the guidelines set by the game, in genral I think that's even the better approach.

Trying to cut back on what I call "unique fatigue" is a larger project requiring more fundamental changes. This mod is more of a test run for that idea in this regard.
Bearus Aurelius 8 Jan, 2024 @ 3:24pm
Yeah I like the idea of moving away from permanent bonuses, at least for a more unique GP type. Of course my Philosophers basically all provide permanent boosts haha, but I tried to circumvent that by having many of them reliant on other factors like not being at war or having a lot of districts next to your Government Plaza. I think the way you tackled is much more interesting though, especially under the Explorer motif.
JNR  [author] 7 Jan, 2024 @ 12:40pm
I wanted them to have a distinct identity, and I think scientists like Darwin and Ammal represented exploration really well, as one has to actually study the map to look for locations.

Also, I want to move GP away from permanent bonuses, as those feel like they could come from anywhere. I prefer if each source of bonuses has its own mechanical identity. Stuff like extra appeal, a yield bonus to certain tiles, etc. can be a civ ability, a world wonder, a great person, a city state suzerain ability, etc. - it feels so generic.

Curie wasn't even in the game before, fwiw.
JasonWolf 7 Jan, 2024 @ 11:52am
I'm curious why you chose to make them mostly one off science boosts. Usually I find the most fun great people to be something permanent, and I wonder if you chose one time big science boosts to try and make them really different from many other great people.

Also super love the update to Madam Curie, always felt weird she didn't interact with uranium.
JNR  [author] 7 Jan, 2024 @ 11:15am
I mean, youre free to work that out yourself and make a modmod that makes them compatible. I personally see certain design ideas not mixing well conceptually, so I have no plans to make them compatible myself.
edboltz 7 Jan, 2024 @ 8:31am
The two Great Explorer mods could certainly be incorporated into one another.
JNR  [author] 6 Jan, 2024 @ 10:15am
I'm aware of that mod. I don't see how one would make them compatible. I suppose technically you can use both alongside each other, but conceptually it doesn't make much sense. I think that's fine though, both mods have the same general theme but interpret in different ways, both of which are interesting on their own and worth trying out.

Where Raubak represented exploration in the process of *earning* Great Explorers, I went for putting the exploration into *using* them.

Love this.

Hats off to you for the work you put into the mods you make. They are always wonderful, and the effort and passion you put in can really be felt. You are appreciated. Thank you.
edboltz 3 Jan, 2024 @ 11:40am
Does this conflict with Raubak's Great Explorers? Can you integrate, not just the great people bu also the Vostok Wonder and Polar Stations?

looks amazing, as always

Hey all! I made a video showcasing the mod! You can find it here: https://youtu.be/2iNG7XyI-Zw . Sorry if imposing let me know and I'll delete this comment!
JNR  [author] 2 Jan, 2024 @ 12:07pm
there should be a collection soon, the world map image will then link to it (right now it still links to the last modder pass)
AntipaterTruscus 2 Jan, 2024 @ 11:50am
I am glad that JNR has just released another Mod that concretely extend the game. I am even gladder that it is integrated with More Maritime, one of my favorite Mod I recently found.
Are there any specific channels for us to learn more and discuss about the "Modder's Pass"?
Dr.Abominate 2 Jan, 2024 @ 9:55am
Another masterpiece, and in addition, connected to More Maritime: Seaside Sectors :)
Lucius, the Heavenly Dragon 2 Jan, 2024 @ 5:23am
Excellent.
weraptor 2 Jan, 2024 @ 4:52am
It's thematic, though, both for Portugal and the UB itself and honestly not so powerful.
JNR  [author] 2 Jan, 2024 @ 4:07am
Since I have the point to all Universities, the Navigation School is already included, extra points seemed unnecessary to me as the building is already pretty good.
weraptor 2 Jan, 2024 @ 3:42am
Good mod. Perhaps Portugal's Navigation Schools should provide double Great Explorer points?
JNR  [author] 2 Jan, 2024 @ 3:38am
You mean the ability description was missing or that his biography in the civilopedia is? I haven't gotten around to adding the latter yet, it will come in a later update.
M 2 Jan, 2024 @ 1:31am
Lovely mod JNR, it loads up fine with other mods. Vasco Da Game was the first Great Explorer on the screen (Medieval Era) I nice little telescope icon was there but there is no biography for him.
