why are all of these warpaints so boring

for a sand based war paint, its alright. Color choices are a good combination.

I like it, it looks like it is made of wood.

The textures need more work - they aren't seamless (don't loop well), and it wouldn't hurt to still give the wood some details.

To help with making a pattern with no seams, there's an option in Photoshop View -> Pattern Preview , it will show you where things cut off awkwardly.
