I would recommend doing the nexusmods install or copy the workshop maps to your maps folder. This will also enable anniversary graphics.
Steam\steamapps\workshop\content\976730\3136338280\maps
are the Halo XL maps.
You can back up the original maps before overwriting them at:
Steam\steamapps\common\Halo The Master Chief Collection\halo1\maps
@Mokang Sonate: The above method is required for Anniversary graphics. 343 does not allow anniversary support in Steam Workshop.
@Magicbullet141 - Multiplayer must be installed for Steam workshop.
NexusMods version is the same as this mod but it is just overwriting the default maps. Feel free to try that if there are any issues. Working fine on our end.
Right now it doesnt show up at all
was for sure a tough run, but the mod was 4x the amount of fun as i would expect! 11/10 mod
I do have to nitpick though because there seems to be little or no new/upgraded weapon and vehicle spawns throughout and this lets things down, having half a dozen hunters barrelling down on you and having nothing but a plasma pistol and a needler to deal with them can be very frustrating.
If you do an update on this then please add more guns and vehicles throughout the campaign to give it a truly XL/chaotic feeling.
The oldest CPU + GPU combo I have tested is an i7-4690k + GTX 1070.
I would just make sure to end game before cutscene if you don't want to try below method.
You can try copying the map files from the workshop folder to the main maps:
From: Steam\steamapps\workshop\content\976730\3136818178\Maps
To: Steam\steamapps\common\Halo The Master Chief Collection\halo1\maps
This is same as installing NexusMods version; while also enabling new graphical support and will not require Halo 1 MP to be installed.
Kind regards!
Remember that sadistic feeling you wanted back in the day of you being severely outgunned by the covenant? Congratulations this is it. You found that dream.
You will be severely out numbered. Unfairly. Thankfully the guns have been adjusted (mercifully) to compensate for this. Like ammo. Even then its not enough hahaha
Save those grenades. Use them to set off chain commands if you value your sanity.
Good fun. Definitely a challenge.
Its like Hell divers meets halo. You will see nothing but gunfire coming your way.
As you said I did multiply the rear AI. There might be some tricks I can do to add back the enemies without spawn killing player; like replacing needlers with plasma pistols.
Two betrayals, pt. 2: Quite challenging. For the "Final Run" checkpoint, I ended up going on the right side under enemy fire and taking a ghost. Then after just a small amount of cleaning in the next section, I booked it all the way to the Banshee. ;)
Keyes: Not much to say.
The Maw: Pretty easy, maybe eight or so deaths for the whole level.
The film wide screen-type text as well as mission objectives are jumbled throughout the game, by the way.
Yeah, might just be my playstyle. Thanks again! I plan on continuing in Halo2XL.
Still deciding whether to play on Normal or Heroic there, since Halo 2 difficulty is like one higher. ;)
Pillar of Autumn: Nice introduction, lots of chaos. Not too hard overall.
Halo: Fun stuff. With some patience, not too hard.
Truth and Reconciliation: Very hard. Lots of deaths, both inside and outside the ship. Worst part is probably the huge room inside the ship. Honorable mentions: Outside the grav lift, just inside the ship, and oh yeah.... the room with all of the cloaked sword dudes after you pick up Keyes took maybe 20 tries.
Silent Cartographer: Fairly Easy
Assault on the Control Room: Challenging in Parts
343 GS: Hardest parts are outside, funny enough. Still doable.
Library: Surprisingly easy. Most flood reinforcements seem to be like vanilla.
Two Betrayals: Quite Hard, as Expected. Currently inside near the 2nd generator.
It would cause the mission to not be able to be progressed, with pelican never landing.
