That's partially why I didn't wanna fix it, as it was honestly really funny when it did happen haha
All 3 Toads have a screenshot (which can be seen on their pages) that shows all of their NSpecial things! Although there isn't a comprehensive list that also describes their effects, so I could consider maybe adding that.
Yeah I double-checked the text it generally looks for, and scp-173 shouldn't trigger at all unless there's something weird on that characters end somehow. So no idea lol
As for abyss, that's definitely weird too. There shouldn't be any issues, but she was never tested or designed for that mode so I'm gonna assume there's just something weird with abyss mostly
And yeah not a bad rune idea, just an extensive one lol
She's probably a bit more likely to get a few more items that were planned (but never made it) if a bigger update comes, but no guarantees haha
If you're ever planning on giving her more runes, a fun one would be one that lets you pick items on command but either the star is excluded from the list for obvious reasons or each item has a cooldown so you can't use the same item multiple times in rapid succession.
Toadette does have anti-cheapie, although not sure why it would trigger against SCP-173? It definitely shouldn't, lol
As for disabling it, if you hold attack immediately then it wont activate! Every character we have that has anti-cheapie should have this feature, so if it ever gets in the way then you have that option, haha.
Yeah both are there for a reason, though I can see why you'd wanna hop out of Kart and fast fall through it.
And I've definitely hit that DSpecial issue before where grabbing it can be difficult, haha. In fact there already is stuff in place for that, but it's just not strong enough currently I think.
Either way I think I can hit a sort of sweetspot on both, so you can see how it feels in the upcoming patch (which is releasing in a moment)!
But I guess I do see how being able to fast fall from a greater height & get in without pushing side special could be convenient.
For the former, holding down is meant to let you get in easily, so I'm not sure. Maybe it could be made less sensitive somehow, but not sure, haha.
For the latter, it should be easily fixable as it's due to the vehicles looking for a hold input rather than a press. I can't remember if it's a hold input for a reason though, so changing it could maybe cause some kind of issue... But it doesn't sound too likely, so I can probably change that without any real downside.
It'd still require patching every character that has a vehicle so far though (mainly the toads and Dan iirc), but still!
Not too rare, but it's one of the more uncommon items! So it probably depends a bit on what you have in mind, haha

And no you don't have to be a gamedev at all! We have two small community servers, a main one and one focused on workshop, but you're welcome in either one or both haha.
Also, yeah it's understandable if you wouldn't want to make those two changes. You must've already been careful enough with the N-special tap/hold window as is, and as much as I would like Up-special hits to be a true combo, it's probably for the best that it isn't, especially since you can cancel it after hitting your opponent. So you could Up-air -> Up-B -> Up-air, carrying your opponent all the way to the top of the screen before killing them with Up-air.
Lastly, if I were to be interested in the Discord, I don't need to be a game dev or anything, right? I am afraid I have no experience with that at all 😅
As for the rest though, the nspec tap/hold thing I'll likely keep as is since I don't wanna slow down the move, but it's a tough balance between frame data, reaction time, and the buffer, especially when online and in lag and stuff lol. And for uspec we think its at a decent balance as uair -> upb is possible on wrong DI, but not too reliable to feel cheesy either etc.

Also wow, I feel so silly that I didn't realize that you already had a game on Steam! I see now where some of your Rivals stages come from and I might interested to actually play it!
Anyway, best advice I can give is ignore those people and play whoever you'd like!
And thank you! There's gonna be at least one more character fairly soon, and some more later in 2024... Plus a new update for my game (Super Gear Quest), and hopefully some other stuff this year too. So lots to look forward to!

Also, for future plans I may shift a bit back towards my games this year (I'm a game developer mainly), but I still intend to make more characters this year and into the future. Currently I was finishing up another full character commission as well, which was progressing fast while the Toad pack was coming out, so you might see that soon!
No date on that yet though, but progress can be followed in our Discord and such! My guess would be February/March.

Basically yeah, we just kinda do our own thing!
I wouldn't say we necessarily deviate away from things, although there are some Rivals things we disagree with (Jabs often not being true for example, or recoveries being limited by hard pratfall with high pratland when just high endlag does the job, etc). The approach is overall unique on workshop, but I'm not quite sure how I'd describe it beyond this.
Aside from that, I want to ask which balancing philosophy are you slightly deviating from; what about your way of balancing characters makes it unique compared to others?
Aside from all, I think people just perceive the characters as stronger than they are? Maybe due to not expecting a unique balance approach, not as much exp with the game, etc. And my reputation as a creator, when you got those for 26+ characters by now haha!
