Yeppers, I made this mod way back in 2015. This hasn't been an issue for a long time now, so this mod is basically deprecated and is no longer needed. :)

Space Engineers currently supports multiple ammo types

It just has to be added to the weapon sbc itself to recognise it, and hand-loaded first mag in-game to change it

does it exist a mod that add Ammo variants?

Does this still work?

I would love to see the missiles come to this mod. This is the only one I know of that is reworking the ammunition to solve the Magnesium problem on small asteroid maps.

Great work!

because pistons = bombs

I don't see why guns in space engineers don't just piston launch a metal slug instead of having to make a fancy round. :P

portal turret use a piston system to fire a whole bullet.

U mean just download this weapon mod NATO 25x184mm.
[SCW]-StellarFirefly  [ophavsmand] 5. okt. 2015 kl. 12:34
@mothership: This ammo is a replacement for the NATO 25x184mm ammo. All weapons that used the original ammo will now use this ammo, if you use this mod.

What kinds of gun can fit this ammo?
Blizzy 6. jan. 2015 kl. 5:49
Hawkeye its supposed to be a type of ammunition that can be manufactured in "harsher" envoirments from "second hand" ship dissassembly...

It has real world equivalence, called "improvised ammunition" often produced in extreme circumstances like the artic, in "gun nut" boasting fights or "prepper self sufficiency" scemes.

Problem with using uranium as a propellant is that one still would need a primer explosive to set it off... one could theorise that an increased amount of nickle + water + electricity "would" provide some explosion but not even close to the required amount, but then at least you have AN explosion to make the lore fit...

This is why we dont use uranium propellant in modern days, if we ignore radiation we would need more explosives to set off the uranium then we would get delta V from the uranium, even at the "battleship cannon" scale..Over engineering at its finest!

Still a really cool mod!

whats speacial about it

would be cool if we did that then had a nuclear fusion reactor (a bit over powered because instead of breaking the uranium or other stuff down its going to build it up to its higher respective forms like uranium into lutonium, it also puts of more power than fission.)
V4D4RS F1ST 20. sep. 2014 kl. 15:00
well in my chemistry class our teachers told us about nuclear fission so i know how reactors works, sadly this game needs all the other materials because u can use the by products from uranium's nuclear fission again and the byproducts of that one last time. also plutonium should probably be the starting material as plutonium breaks down into uranium in nuclear fission
Piamond Dickaxe 19. sep. 2014 kl. 21:56
Ah, well. 0.1 grams isnt much for a power source, either. ;)
[SCW]-StellarFirefly  [ophavsmand] 19. sep. 2014 kl. 20:31
Heh yes, realistically uranium is not really the power source that most people believe that it is. I would bet that most people who think of a "uranium reactor" in a starship are imagining that it is heating water to drive a bunch of steam turbines. :) So I considered using that explanation. Except that if someone were enough of a stickler for conforming to modern realistic explanations, then they would realize that the distribution of uranium is only 0.1 grams per bullet. Not exactly enough to produce a convincing "depleted uranium" round, heh.
Piamond Dickaxe 19. sep. 2014 kl. 17:26
Rather than being a "Power source" for bullets, why not say you use the uranium in the actual bullet, not unlike they do today.

lol, makes mods, still has no avatar
[SCW]-StellarFirefly  [ophavsmand] 17. sep. 2014 kl. 11:31
To clarify from my previous post:

A "little bit" should actually be a decent amount, just probably not enough to destroy two ships in total. Because sometimes, you're going to expend ammo but then run away, especially on a PvP server.
[SCW]-StellarFirefly  [ophavsmand] 17. sep. 2014 kl. 11:28
There is still an open concern that the cost is still a bit high for purely-pirate sectors, i.e. zero asteroids. The idea is that fully deconstructing a basic ship (e.g. Private Sail) should make enough ammo to destroy exactly another ship of its type, plus have a little bit but not too much left over.

Feedback on whether the current recipe can achieve this or not is welcome. :)

I've been waiting for something like this, thanks <3
