The main problem is: I simply don't care enough. That's a lot of work, and completely not worth the effort to me.
Don't let me stop *you* though, go nuts and make it, and I'll happily subscribe to it! :D
Get a ship into a decent hover, and lock. Without the pesky footpad sticking out.
Perhaps looking like a grav generator. (upside down when mounted on the bottom of a ship.)
Could also be used to capture drifting debrie.
If you want it THAT much, get a 3d modeling program, fiddle with the lockon doodad in the model, and save and re-encode it. If you use the base model (like I did), you can just re-use all of Keens assets, but with a longer lock-range thing.
Need update add for small ship
Same model, overrides basic gear. If this gets funky, you can try adding the replacer version, or switching.
As far as I can tell, it's not anything I *can* fix, sorry. It works the great majority of the time anyway, and when it fails, it just works like regular gears, so nothing catastrophic, at least. :/
looks like it might be a problem on my end
if I reload a map without getting right out of the game some mods stop working and will not start until i do a full restart on the game
thanks for the mod I have them mounted behind large grinders on my auto grinding ship holding stuff till the grinders finish them stopping it bouncing of into space
The "Long Range" gear doesn't have a specific slot specified, it will appear in your list under large blocks, and in the all-blocks list. (That way, no issues with displacing other items, and dodges possible mod compatibility issues. I hope.)
I was thinking about doing a straight-up replacement for the normal gear, it would just be a matter of renaming the edited model file to override the base landing gear model. Less work, actually, than adding in a new item.
