If there is a way to use these aircraft on the carrier please let me know!
However, I do suggest some ideas with maps to which one could be in a Desert (Dubai, Iraq..etc). Another Map idea could most likely be like a More Arctic Map(Russia, North/South Pole..etc). I have even thought about a African Jungle. I also suggest adding AH-94 slots, Norway totally exposes many creative ideas with those mountains, and even the maps I suggested :)
Keep up your good work, and looking forward to your next project!!
Looking forward to your next project! Would love to see you make another part of Norway, but I have no doubt you'll make Corsica just as interesting and beautiful as well.
Norway should never have bought new fighters. The terrain is as made for AH-64.
Please?
I did make an effort to add variability to many parts of the mission, from the carrier starting location, objective selection and location, sam sites, which hostile airports enemies can launch from, randomized from which airport reinforcements arrive, direction from which patrols fly in from the edge of the map, etc.
For example, there are 11 different mission types, and the convoy objective has 10 different vehicle paths alone. Ideally, the mission should play out slightly different each time.
The second phase and its eastern airbases is the most static part, though I currently lack the time to rework that aspect.
I consider the mission mostly finished at this point, unless major game updates add interesting assets. But I am open to ideas.
Next, I want to take what I have learned from making this mission and apply it to other terrains. Similair structure of random objectives and a set of randomly selected hostile airfields, from which enemy fighters take off and defend their/other airfields.
For the next mission, which will probably be based in Corsica (nice island size fitting VTOLs map limits, with many real world airports) I want to implement events in which players have to defend their carrier from hostile fighter groups, enemy convoys and ground attack aircraft that counter attack airfields you have captured. Would add a nice sense of urgency and back-and-forth.
For the next couple of months though, I'm completely focused on real life stuff, so it will take a while
Otherwise, fantastic misson and map
I also want to add a short mission variant which excludes the two final objectives in the far east.
Before completing the initial objectives, you can use the captured airbases to resupply. After you complete these, in the second phase spawns should be moved forward to one of the captured airports.
I'll check out the issue, I had it working in multiplayer sessions before but maybe there are conditions that prevent it from working properly.
I believe we were supposed to respawn at captured airbases but we got sent back all the way to the carrier instead. And secondly we couldn't get voice commands to work with this mission, though I'm not sure if that is a game bug or a mission bug.
We were playing the version with respawns on
Some things I'm considering:
- removing patrolling AA from the forward spawn airports if hasn't been destroyed yet, to avoid unfair spawnkills
- bomber objective, which are initially parked but take off and could destroy a captured airport, adding a bit of urgency
- infantry only objective as an excuse for cluster bombs
- randomizing whether SAM sites have active or semi-active missiles
- staggering some of the fighter take-off spawns to avoid doomstacks
-maybe two more airports in the east to add a bit of randomization to the second mission phase
Performance gets quite tricky once you go past 10+ players, and since you trade two aircraft for one two-seater its a seperate mission option.
I also made some mistakes in the editing process of the heightmaps, ending up with the vertical scale of some terrain being slightly off. Though it shouldn't be worse than -/+ 20% to real world height.
The map required quite a bit of polishing, especially around the water/terrain edge where I made adjustments based on what I saw on google maps.
