Just one big combined arms battle then, somewhere few f35s and apache’s couple M1s, razor team sneaking around back to take out some bm21s or something :P
zahl  [author] 22 Feb, 2024 @ 2:07am
escalation? yeah - russia is defending against western aggression! /s
but no; for now its just world-building, and even later down the line, its mostly focused on Razor doing small scale stuff, so there wont be any big battles anyway (so no bootleg Odin's Sword haha)
kfclover 22 Feb, 2024 @ 12:12am
god damnit you beat me to the funny escalation stuff

Nice and straightforward mission. Buckle up bois, Act 2 commences

hehe yeah I guess it could seem like I don't sleep, but i do :) For sure, that first idea would also work, but just as well we can wait for it later in the campaign, after this "intermission". I can't imagine how a full squad would -"work"- and pathfind in the castle...yeah, it's ok as it is LOL
zahl  [author] 21 Feb, 2024 @ 1:39pm
I like your idea of joining a "normal" unit in their assault, tho! But that's tricky. It would make perfect sense in the story, but AI is dumb as rocks. In War Welcome, I cleared the powerplant pretty much alone while the AI squad was taking cover somewhere at the LZ. I don't really want the player to get slowed down by (non-squad) AI units

I could try it in the next scenario tho but thinking about it, I might have to do some weird timeline and/ or lore changes as well...
zahl  [author] 21 Feb, 2024 @ 1:33pm
Damn onestar, are you even sleeping?! haha But I totally agree. I had a completely different scenario on my mind (pretty much directly after War Welcome; a recon-squad got ambushed on Route 17; you had to find them and bring them to Krasnostav, but then mortar fire would rain down, which led you to the castle, but also took a lot of USMC equipment with it. Kinda like, "What kind of shit did we get into!?") But that felt a bit too forced, would take away some ideas I have for later missions, and tbh, I saw "uhm akshually even SF guys have to rest ;))" comments lmao

That's why I kinda tried to make it a bit lore-friendly; in this timeline, Marines pretty much steamrolled Chedaki troops in this (!) area because most insurgents moved further inland and only some lone patrols/camps that couldnt escape (or the occasional armed civvie) were left

First of all, great work as always! Now some minor comments - it felt not like 12 hours since the invasion, but 12 days. That was the vibe. It wasn't bad, just didn't fit an urgent, "fresh" invasion scenario. I felt maybe the last part could be great (for SP especially) if Razor got augmented with a few "grunts", as in, "Ok, we'll guide your regular guys and give a lending hand" type of deal. The idea itself is awesome, just routine patrols with ambushes, IEDs etc. Just felt like this could be a later mission.
