You need to finish each map to get XP, XP is for progressing. This actually fixes a bug Solasta has . If you enter combat, kill someone, leave map while combat continues, you'll get zero XP for the prior kills. So the XP in this campaign comes from completing each map

Just started and a little confused. I killed some Necro Orcs but did not get any experience for it. What's going on?

Yeah! I wasn't sure people would like a campaign like this, but I'd be interested in making it longer or using a sequel. I'm studying a lot on high level encounters, and what makes them tick.
