Report a translation problem
The problem was that "classd2.jpg", AND "classd3.jpg" were 2 MB which crashed the game, so I did heavier compression and now they're 691 KB.

I've gotten this error many times before, and in the exact way you are describing it. I haven't done much because I wasn't sure if it were just me, but I guess not! I'll look more into the issue, and see if I can fix it without removing the whole texture.
For your second question, SCP:CB has a hard time loading in large amounts of high res textures. When I was first making the mod, all I had was the npcs, and map folder, and the game crashed every time I tried to make or load a save. This is why I’ve excluded unimportant textures.
1: what mode did you used in Upscayl? general photo or digital art?
2: why would the game crash and have performance issues if the textures are "Upscayled"
