none of the specials seem to do very much (almost no knockback, dspecial rarely hits) but the dstrong is spiking and killing very early

tbh it's actually not that imbalanced. played the level 9 cpu on a flat, and relatively normal map and 3 stocked him each time with an also relatively balanced character

Another correction. I've just taken Alastor back into training to fact check myself; and it appears his FSpecial does deal knockback. I can only assume I was experiencing one of Rivals' glitches where certain parts of a character may occasionally break. It usually happens with skins; but I've seen it happen with moves before. I still would prefer the move be altered; but I retract my false statement regarding its properties.

It's also notable that one his aerials (one of the ones featuring Niffty) has no sound when used, which is rather offputting. As well as the fact that his FTilt is faster than his jab, which just seems odd; but isn't a huge issue. Lastly, I'm not sure why this happens; but regardless of what skin you're using, Alastor's dodging and parrying animations cause his sprite to revert to his default skin. Obviously, this isn't a problem; but it is weird.

While on the subject of his current FSpecial: it too does essentially nothing. Yes, it deals damage; and, yes, you can spawn several of them at once to deal a lot of damage; but it just feels off. I would say the move would benefit from being turned into more of a balanced take on SSB Ness' PK Fire. In other words: Decrease it's size a bit, have it flinch the opponent so that it locks them in hitstun for a moment; but limit Alastor to only spawning one at a time, making sure to give the move a bit of cooldown between the tentacles despawning and him being able to spawn another (therefore preventing the spamming that Ness has become hated for).

The changes I would want to be made to his moveset would include the following:
Increase that cooldown between NSpecials; and make them deal slight knockback. I don't see much of a point in tossing out all these little guys if the opponent can just run through them. The most comparable move is Fox's NSpecial in the SSB series; but Fox's moove is far more rapid fire; and he can stop doing it quickly should the opponent approach. Alastor's move feels more like Falco's NSpecial; but without the knockback to justify the decreased rate of fire. I'd also prefer that his DSpecial and FSpecial be swapped. They just don't make sense in their current order to me.

So, after a bit more testing, I've found that Alastor is rather difficult to play. He feels like he's intended to be a zoner. His attacks are well ranged and put together in a way that makes keepaway feel like the intended strategy. The issue being that the attacks he would be using to zone don't so much as flinched the opponent, meaning they can still effortlessly approach and punish him. I believe his info stated this was your first mod; so please take this as helpful feedback, and not picky critique.

The skins are also really nice, each one being a solid reference. I suppose my only issues would be the laugh for his taunt, which starts a little early, letting the end of a work slip in where it shouldn't be; and the sprite work could use a little improvement, as he does look sort of odd. That isn't to say it looks bad by any means, I just mean he could look a bit better with some tweaking.

If you end up seeing this comment, I wanna say I'd love to see you mod Adam into this. With the amount of thought you put into Al, I'd be super excited to see what you thought up for Adam.

Hello! I'm here after playing around with the mod; and I gotta say: I like it a lot!There's clearly a lot of care and attention put into it based on the animations alone. He's always standing straight, hardly flinching no matter what he does, giving him an heir of constant defiance, which is very in character for him. Summoning the nameless demons to do his dirty work while he just stands there grinning is also pretty funny. I honestly wasn't expecting Husk and Niffty to be present in his moveset; but I love that they are. I also like the fact that his dodging/parrying animations use the "giant ****king shield," as it were, from the battle with Adam.

I do have a question tho... why did u make hes dspecial a "put the stick between legs and small dash into my enemy", I expected something like him jumping and havee like a tentacle comming from a portal and hit under him like redraptors dspecial from brawlhalla for some reason but still is an owsome character.

I believe for the victory theme that the audio is just too short and that's why there is an overlap.
My suggestion is to take a larger snippet from the song its from and just add a fade in and out using an audio program like audacity.

For your first mod, I think it's rather good!
I would like to see some resprites, but I think that big boi that he summons in is great.

As for the specials, I believe about all of them need a rework
His up could be a teleport, as he does that frequently
His neutral could include him tossing one of those little tiny gremlin things, and having it attack and stun the enemy, as well as destroy projectiles.
His down special could include him doing a hip slide, with a musical cue attached. You should gain something akin to armor will doing the slide, because right now it is utterly terrible.
His side special should involve him grappling enemies with the chain he uses on husk

All of his other "smash" attacks should include him transforming into his demon state, to deliver a powerful blow.

Just suggestions! I really love your mod, and I am thrilled to see what comes of it in the future!
