Hmm. Interesting. This mod seems to work if you use the SPG2Modmanager to install and activate.

The reason this became outdated was because it was based on a earlier version of the game - but somehow the mod manager seems to be able to overcome that issue. :steamhappy:

For those trying to get this to work. Install it via the game files vice steam or UI and it will work. Go to your steam folder and navigate to... \steamapps\common\Starpoint Gemini 2.

Then use the "SPG2ModManager" to INSTALL and the click the ACTIVATE box on your mods. They should then work across all DLCs.

Nice mod, thx. Works great and much easier on the eyes.
Kazzik 31 May, 2017 @ 10:43pm
This is a nice simple fix that unclutters the screen and makes the experience much more enjoyable.
pascal.difolco 7 Jul, 2016 @ 2:02pm

Well was just asking if mod was updated since including the DLC, my text modification work as intended and so far no conflict, at least now people now its compatible with 1.9
Crache  [author] 30 Nov, 2015 @ 4:13am
@Foxtrot39 The mod works fine for me, it was never broken with 1.9 or any other version as far as I know. You just have to be very careful about the installation instructions, because you really have to restart the game after installing the mod and enabling it in order for it to take effect.

I'm aware of the skybox particle files, but the way I do it is confined to a single file, is less likely to be incompatible with other mods and provides the same performance gains. :)

I'd appreciate it if you would try disabling your sky particle changes, reinstall this mod and make sure to restart the game to see that it works for you.

If it really doesn't work for you even after that, then it may be some DLC you have which is in conflict, because I don't have any of the DLC.
Foxtrot39 29 Nov, 2015 @ 3:38pm
To the mod author:

I just made some modification (only changed emissioncount value to 0 on all sky.par and cloud.par according to a performance thread on steam ) and I have all DLC installed

It remove the space debris but also heavely lower the star dust (more likely nearly remove it completely)

From personnal experience gained around 15 FPS, went from barely playabe (10-15) to decent (around 30 fps), I don't have an FPS monitor so can't tell exactly how much I gained from it

I got no idea how to post on workshop if it work, feel free to update your file with it

Made it for version 1.9001

Also no idea how to send the file so tell me wich how do I send it
Bardo 11 Nov, 2015 @ 11:54am
It doesn't work :/
cswiger 5 Oct, 2015 @ 6:30pm
I wouldn't mind a bit of debris floating by, but I'd like maybe 10% of the amount the game hurls at you. No debris is better than way too much.

Anyway, the mod works fine here in v1.8000, both with the "Secrets of Aethera" DLC enabled or not. I did have to enable it in the mods menu, and then save and restart the game before it seemed to take effect though.
Fanest 29 Sep, 2015 @ 4:37pm
sadly i cant get this mod to work (version 1.8) and these annoying particles really are immersion breaking for me
Raynor 19 Aug, 2015 @ 8:55pm
Does this work with "Secrets Of Aethera" DLC?
Equalvision 24 Jun, 2015 @ 1:59pm
THANK YOU! I always hated those little rocks. Makes it much harder to focus on anything else. Too much stuff zipping around. YAY.
Crache  [author] 17 May, 2015 @ 10:58am
@count9us: Unfortunately I don't have the DLC to test with, but if I happen across a quick compatible solution then I'll see about updating it.
count9us 17 May, 2015 @ 9:15am
I used it before dlc and maybe it was working then cause I didn't notice anything, with dlc I do notice little rocks every were. So maybe its that, wish it would work with dlc, it would be great since I mine and I wouldn't have to waste time clicking on just background stuff. What would you recommend? Thanks for responding =)
Crache  [author] 17 May, 2015 @ 9:02am
@count9us: Are you using the DLC or is your game stock?
count9us 17 May, 2015 @ 8:58am
doesn't work for me , might need to be updated. Thanks though.
VaeliusNoctu 7 Jan, 2015 @ 8:39am
Thanks for the Mod...
@Artophwar
Thats "SpaceWind" look at: Starpoint/spg2/Textures/effects/ the file SpaceWInd_0.dds maybe remove them remove that spacwinds too?
Artophwar 20 Oct, 2014 @ 10:39am
Thanks for the seperate download. I was wondering if you could add to this mod or maybe make another mod that removes the wispy smoke that follows your ship around even when you are nowhere near a nebula.
Artophwar 18 Oct, 2014 @ 5:05pm
Hello. I bought the game on GOG because it was on sale and I woul ike to use this mod. Is there somewhere I can download it. Or can you tell me what you edited in the particles.wdt file so I can change it myself. I really dont feel like doing it by trial and error.
Δ 900 Mag 13 Oct, 2014 @ 7:36pm
like so many others before me have stated, i now wait for the whole imitation nebula cattywompus (aka space sandstorm) to magically disappear.

oh, and my graphics card thanks you.
Alinar Fenfaren 12 Oct, 2014 @ 7:09pm
Excellent mod, thank you so much!
Weez 10 Oct, 2014 @ 12:10am
yay get rid of the ridiculous space sandstorm plz
Xerathul 9 Oct, 2014 @ 8:09am
This mod is fantastic - It doesn't change gameplay but it speeds up your computer so during that split second wehn you are fighting for your life your computer isn't slowed down because of a patch of sky gravel. Great mod, well done. I will say it distorts your concept of speed - I feel like I am going slower even though nothing has changed.
Augustus Gloop 6 Oct, 2014 @ 5:08am
I saw this mod before I started playing heavily and thought "Hmmm, wonder what difference that would make?". Now I know. Thanks a lot for posting this.
Sir Lee Of Can 5 Oct, 2014 @ 9:58pm
love it love it :)
Crache  [author] 5 Oct, 2014 @ 5:43pm
@travc: glad you dig them! it's fulfilling to see the unrealized potential in something and then release a mod that brings it closer to that potential.

a while back i had been making a vampire mod for skyrim, because vampires were really disappointing to me in skyrim. it would have you become stronger the more sleeping people you feed on at night and you could see glows around people you've already fed on. you could turn into mist/smoke which would make you invulnerable temporarily and allow you to steal blood, but when you weren't in that form you could boil the blood of your enemies by expending some of your own blood and you'd be transitioning in and out of mist form to recouperate.

tri night eye was sort of a byproduct of that.
travc 5 Oct, 2014 @ 4:47pm
Crache... Just got to say that this, like the few other mods you've made (including the Skyrim night-eye mod), is deceptively simple yet a great improvement. I owe you a proverbial beer.
Shelvas 5 Oct, 2014 @ 1:02pm
Difference is just so significative ! Thanks a lot. I totally agree with with @Questline, now I can "feel" how deep is space
Hovenberg 4 Oct, 2014 @ 5:42pm
Thanks!
Glitter_Balls 4 Oct, 2014 @ 3:33am
Thank you! This is exactly what I came to the workshop to look for. They really overdid it.
Terath 3 Oct, 2014 @ 11:34pm
I was about to stop playing because of this. Space is not filled with tiny rocks! Thank you! Now if only we could get rid of the silly smoke effect while traveling.
Questy 3 Oct, 2014 @ 12:04am
I have always hated this in space games. I realise most gamers probably like the "speed" feeling it gives but it ruins the feeling of being in space for me.
Devias 2 Oct, 2014 @ 2:38pm
Thanks for this. In my opinion the debris made the universe and your ship feel "smaller", because they are proportioned to the size of a windshield, which would be fine if you were looking out of a cockpit view, but you're not in this game.
Zentraldenker 2 Oct, 2014 @ 2:32pm
good effect on immersion. thx!
Dr. Danger 1 Oct, 2014 @ 8:12pm
does exactly what it says. I think it makes the game look much better.
Skyhaster 1 Oct, 2014 @ 10:56am
@ eggmuffin restart game
Crache  [author] 1 Oct, 2014 @ 10:55am
Did you restart SPG2?
Crache  [author] 1 Oct, 2014 @ 10:55am
I agree that small rocks in asteroid belts feels appropriate, but this removes all of the billboarded particle rock textures. There are still small 3D rocks, and if you blow up an asteroid you will see its debris fly out, but you won't be swimming in rocks. I'd say give it a try and come back to provide your opinion. If you're referring to some different rocks and are disappointed that they're missing, I might be look into it.
Eggmuffin 1 Oct, 2014 @ 10:52am
Well, that didn't work. Yes, I downloaded it through the in-game mod-menu. Yes, I remembered to check the box to activate it. Yes, the mod folder is in place in the appropriate directory.

Did I forget something?
