It's not too bad, since there are many FPS games that makes their double barrel shotguns eject 2 and load 2 shells at the same time regardless of how many bullets you have left.
But that Lethal Company shell reload SE do be sounding crispy when loading 1 at a time, huh.
How about the animation for Doom Super Shotgun in this mod then?
The shells are loaded 1 at a time but with the left hand.

(The only downside to this one however, is that if you reload with 1 bullet remaining, the gun ejects 2 shells and load only 1 shell, which is weird because you get 2 bullets to shoot as a result.)
But I must say, Tööttieläin's animation is probably not the best for it.
Because the gun has a really wide grip, the reload animation makes it look like the right hand is clipping through it after loading each shell.
And of course, there's also that last frame just like you mentioned that can really bug you.
Have you considered using Infinity Ward's animation used in the double-barrel shotgun mod below? It's probably the most flawless-looking one out there.
