i can not get this to work at all, i update the code to work with the latest update since this was only 1 minor edit in your mod but doesnt seem to work, cities stay on their appoinment succession
FunGaming44 4 May @ 10:32pm
for some reason cities will not change the law anything missing ?
FunGaming44 4 May @ 9:27pm
quick question i'm trying to adopt this into my landless mod but do i need anything else beside the small edit to have the city / barony change from appointment succession to the premogeniture succession ?
SubtropicalTree  [author] 13 Feb @ 6:31pm
@Viktir it does, actually. Something like say, Venice, ends up becoming a rather strong Kingdom with Primogeniture.

Been looking for something like this. Let me ask, does it automatically change all republics over so that it would mess with independent republic nations?

it doesn't work it shows the old version of the mod
SubtropicalTree  [author] 1 Jan @ 12:51pm
I think it should be working now!

@tilarium thanks for the comprehensive breakdown. I am currently looking into this!

Alas, the mod needs a major update. It's breaking the succession in the Eastern Roman Empire and likely any other Administrative realms that might pop up during the game. In the case of the ERE, it's defaulting the succession to equal Primogeniture, with Basileios' eldest child Anastasia succeeding him instead of Leon. Leon, being his second son is the first one Born in the Purple and before 1.13/1.14 was the one that would always succeed his father. With Administrative though, it's supposed to be an election, which it goes back to when the mod is disabled. What is really weird though, is that Anastasia is only the heir when not playing as Basileios, when playing as him (and maybe others in the ERE, didn't check, sorry), Leon again becomes his primary heir for the whole of the game. Still broken, just broken in a different manner.

@your good pal chev I will have this tested myself now that you made me curious and let you know what the succession seems to be
Your Good Pal Chev 2 Apr, 2024 @ 2:41pm
I'm fairly certain the game does not allow count or higher characters to hold baronies outside of their held counties unless they are a holy order. Without testing, I imagine that in the event of an inheritance situation like you describe the result would be: A new republican vassal would be generated, or the title would default to the county owner. Of course, I could be wrong.
SubtropicalTree  [author] 2 Apr, 2024 @ 12:35pm
@your good pal chev I could do it for sure but I believe this could be problematic.

House Seniority would make a Barony very likely go to another landed character that may be of a higher rank than Barony so I'm not sure of how the game would react to that, if the AI would revoke the Barony or something even weirder could happen.
Your Good Pal Chev 1 Apr, 2024 @ 5:21pm
Would it be possible to get a version that has republics use seniority instead of primogeniture?

Love this, thanks!

I have an other idea for a new mod:
It would be nice to create a mod with a "council positions history button" to have a look at all our ex Chancellors or Stewards for example 🙂🤓
alegdansk 31 Mar, 2024 @ 1:48pm
Yes ok, mine is only a suggestion 😉
SubtropicalTree  [author] 31 Mar, 2024 @ 12:39pm
@alegdansk that would require a more complex implementation that I am unsure of how to handle. Barons are already the lowest ranking holders in the game, so I am not sure if an election between non-landed characters is possible, which I believe is why the game auto-generates characters by default.

I will try to look at the game files to see how other election types handle their voters but for now I will stick to Primo for simplicity.
alegdansk 31 Mar, 2024 @ 11:41am
It would be nice if the title goes to the most powerful member of the most powerful 5 families of the city for example. Like the mechanic of The Catholic Trinity mod for the election of the Pope.
alegdansk 31 Mar, 2024 @ 11:36am
Ok thank you 😉
SubtropicalTree  [author] 31 Mar, 2024 @ 10:28am
@alegdansk if the chain of inheritance breaks, the title goes to their liege.
Riaman 31 Mar, 2024 @ 7:14am
Sweet
alegdansk 31 Mar, 2024 @ 2:41am
And if they have not descendants, what does happen?
SubtropicalTree  [author] 30 Mar, 2024 @ 11:31pm
@alegdansk not exactly.

They remain Republican Vassals and have their own contracts, opinion modifiers, AI, etc.

This tweak simply makes a change so that instead of generating a new Lowborn to hold the title when the previous one dies, the title goes to their descendants.

There are a number of specific gameplay reasons where this could change your experience.
alegdansk 30 Mar, 2024 @ 10:04pm
In other words, republican vassals become feudal vassals? 🙄
