I found that it refreshed genes from vre: Android, yet they shouldn't be there because it's for androids in the mod. Is there a way to remove some genes by hand?
G.Man 11 Mar @ 3:07am
If your library does not connect to the genetic assembler then try putting the Gene library mod below the other genetics mods in the mod list.
I had a conflict with the Gene extractor tiers mod. After changing the order of loading everything worked fine.
Tabu2684 2 Jan @ 1:55am
I simply can't build it. Idk where it is. I don't have it in any tab.
FaintingGoat  [author] 12 Nov, 2024 @ 11:02am
It's a quest reward like the chemreactor or vanometric battery. It's just rare, I've only gotten it a couple of times. I usually just build it if I'm ready to start gene editing but haven't gotten it yet.
Toejm686 11 Nov, 2024 @ 12:16am
What triggers the quest? I've been waiting for it with two different colonies...
ジャッキー・ザ・トキ 26 Oct, 2024 @ 1:35am
Oh, thank you :D
FaintingGoat  [author] 25 Oct, 2024 @ 3:43pm
The wealth spike is actually from the genes. Since it contains every gene in your game, those count towards your wealth, and if you have a lot of modded genes that can add up very quickly.
ジャッキー・ザ・トキ 22 Oct, 2024 @ 2:14pm
Is the wealth calculated on <MarketValue>5000</MarketValue> ? I am not sure if that is a huge thing or not tbh

a complementary mod to this (if anyone who is smarter than me and can make mods) would be the ability to implant a genepack in unborn pawns to that the inherited genes are overridden and the go-juice addicted catgirl vampires are born as go-juice addicted catgirl vampires and not have to deal with genotype vs xenotype or implanting a pawn when it makes no since with how that pawns story has developed so far
sitechaos 19 Aug, 2024 @ 6:36pm
i searched mod for 1.5 filtered by most popular of all time made it to the bottom of page 100 of 500+ and found this mod

wtf i mean really wt actual f
why isnt this on page one
truly underrated
i get not wanting "cheaty" mods but this just makes all that grind not feel so unrewarding
permanent auto-include for me
quick suggestion to @FaintingGoat add a little more to the mod page ie screen shots build costs etc
FaintingGoat  [author] 11 Jun, 2024 @ 7:32am
G.Man - do you mind posting your mod list in a discussion thread or something? I think I can add those mods to a load order to help other folks out.
G.Man 9 Jun, 2024 @ 12:07am
I had a bug with the library not connecting to the gene builder. It may have conflicted with other gene mods (WH40K). Fixed it by moving the gene library mod to the end of the mods list. (I'm writing in case someone has a similar problem)
Guineatown20806 18 May, 2024 @ 2:55am
Question: Could you also make a mod with a ultimate gene bank? I mean the gene library was exacly what I was looking for. But It also feels kinda cheaty. It gives you every gene and the material cost to craft it for what it does is pretty cheap, but that is just me. A let's say archotech gene bank that can store 10000 Gene packs or more would be a bit more balanced.
Inquisition Time! 17 May, 2024 @ 5:21am
Any plans for some compatibility with the GeneLibrary mod?
FaintingGoat  [author] 16 May, 2024 @ 7:57pm
Update the mod and give it another shot. I just pushed an update for something I've been trying to fix all week after noticing it in my own game.

If that doesn't fix the problem, let me know what other gene mods you got, there might be a behavior conflict and if I can identify it, I can specify the load order.
xyf1111 16 May, 2024 @ 6:27am
Putting mod sorting at the bottom works!
Glass Shahk 15 May, 2024 @ 11:50pm
Same as below, Library does not populate properly.
xyf1111 14 May, 2024 @ 8:26am
Gene library not linked to gene assembler Recombination button not clickable
Auster 9 May, 2024 @ 8:01am
@FaintingGoat Sorry for the delay. I think having a comment near the top might help. I do try and read everything but things like that might be better more at the top or in large/bold lettering.

Thanks again.
MerGatto 27 Apr, 2024 @ 8:30am
Is this mod open source by any chance? I considered writing a similar mod myself and would be interested in forking this
FaintingGoat  [author] 25 Apr, 2024 @ 1:11pm
Sumatris: I think if I bump the price that'll make it even harder to obtain as a quest reward. I could make it buildable though for the material cost of like a persona core and a mountain of gold? Let me know what you'd define as "half your colony" in materials.

Auster: yeah, I talk about why that is in the "How it Works" section. Would a warning higher up in the description be helpful?

The Limey Man: Can you drop your mod list in a discussion thread? Could be an interaction going on. Also try hitting the refresh button on the library, just to forcibly repopulate the list and make sure nothing went awry there first.
The Limey Man 24 Apr, 2024 @ 4:16pm
So is this meant to link to the Assembler? It doesn't seem to be adding the genes to the Gene-pack assembly screen. The library shows up in the more linkable's mod settings tab but whether on default or modified settings it doesn't seem to connect.
Auster 24 Apr, 2024 @ 9:36am
I didn't see it in the comments below, but having this in your colony skyrockets your colony wealth. I had around 200k ish wealth, after I had over 2 million wealth. I know it adds every gene and its more of an end game thing but increasing wealth that much from a single item...... Had to search to find out what was making my wealth skyrocket.

Otherwise I like the mod a lot.
Thanks
دانيال أيفان مولا 23 Apr, 2024 @ 3:18pm
x2 what Sumatris said lol
Sumatris 20 Apr, 2024 @ 6:38am
Would you consider adding the library to exotic trader inventories for a hefty price? I tend to have terrible luck with quest rewards, but I'd be willing to sell half my colony for this thing ^^.
Inquisition Time! 11 Apr, 2024 @ 3:23am
That's ok. I guess I'll just sell every gene I don't need and that's all. Besides a mod purging is about to come in less than 6 hours so that would be a chance to clean up my mod list.
FaintingGoat  [author] 10 Apr, 2024 @ 7:24pm
Oh gosh I mean hacky from a programming perspective. It's one of those stupidly simple solutions that prooooobably isn't the right way to do something. I was sitting there like hmm I could figure out how to make the gene assembler display every available gene... or I could just fill up a nearby gene bank and call it a day.
zecorezecron 10 Apr, 2024 @ 7:10pm
I don't think this is hacky. Have you tried to get the Great Cooking gene? I have, and it is basically impossible, and relies purely on the luck of a trader having the gene.
FaintingGoat  [author] 10 Apr, 2024 @ 5:06pm
That's not a silly idea and is honestly something I kind of want too. But the reason I did this mod the way I did is because it didn't touch the gene assembler code, since that's a big shared component that's going to interact with other mods involving gene utilities. Adding a search bar would involve modifying the code for the gene assembler's UI and that's not something I feel comfortable doing just yet. I don't really understand Rimworld's UI code and would need to spend a lot more time figuring it out.
Inquisition Time! 10 Apr, 2024 @ 1:42pm
Silly idea, but couldn't you implement a search bar? Mostly because I got too many biotec mods and can't see properly in such list of genes.
Aquo67890 9 Apr, 2024 @ 7:45pm
Holy crap I've been hoping for a mod like this ever since day one of biotech. Thank you!
Sean 9 Apr, 2024 @ 9:09am
Thank you!!! :steamhappy:
puggy 8 Apr, 2024 @ 12:30pm
anyonew know a mod to just inject a cocktail of genes into an embryo?
wydscum 7 Apr, 2024 @ 9:04pm
Thank youuu you're the goat fr
SalmonToastie 7 Apr, 2024 @ 8:25pm
I love this, im going to sacrifice some silver as i extract a genepack that i specifically want.
RojoMuerte 7 Apr, 2024 @ 1:30pm
Yes! That is what I want too! To be able to fill a gene library on my own.
Dizzy_Dares 7 Apr, 2024 @ 9:38am
Thank you! <3
FaintingGoat  [author] 7 Apr, 2024 @ 8:15am
Okay, that's a good reason to support 1.4 for me. Also I have to recompile anyway because I'm adding Dizzy_Dares's suggestion.
Dizzy_Dares 7 Apr, 2024 @ 4:42am
can we get a version, that just has space for every gene? i hate needing more space for the genes i want.
wydscum 6 Apr, 2024 @ 9:10pm
with that being said PLEASE update to 1.4 frrr i want this mod so badly loll :D
wydscum 6 Apr, 2024 @ 9:09pm
The reason for a 1.4 update is that a lot of key mods may not be updated to 1.5 soon so a lot of us will have to stay on 1.4 a month or so after the update
Inquisition Time! 6 Apr, 2024 @ 1:40pm
You don't know it, but you just saved the life of every raider and new colonist who has an interesting gene to be ripped off.
The Blind One 6 Apr, 2024 @ 12:45pm
Fair enough.
FaintingGoat  [author] 6 Apr, 2024 @ 12:23pm
Honestly it'll depend on how annoying it is to collect books. I made this one because I was just tired of having to micromanage my genes when I'd already done that in previous games, especially as I was adding mods that included new genes. At one point I had a spreadsheet of all the genes I had, genes I needed, genes I was waiting to regrow... and it was like, this is madness. I'm not having fun. I can code my way out of this problem.

So if books elicit a similar response, yeah, expect an archo-bookcase-somethingorother in the future.
The Blind One 6 Apr, 2024 @ 4:09am
Could you consider doing something similar with books?

Create a digital library which can produce one of every book? (or a digital library that pawns can store every type of book into and draw books from for reading?)
Dr Jimothy 5 Apr, 2024 @ 3:13pm
This feels like it would be considered a kind of archotechnology, archites that replicate every theoretically possible gene using some soup of cells (which probably used to be a person, cos Rimworld).
FaintingGoat  [author] 5 Apr, 2024 @ 1:39pm
When it refreshes it'll wipe all of its contents and regenerate them. So it should only have one copy of each gene inside when it's been refreshed. Not sure if that answers your question or not.

Re 1.4: the update is less than a week away, is there a good reason to support 1.4 at this point? It worked on 1.4 with no changes, but I don't know if the .dll needs to be recompiled or not, and I can't test because my internet is down until a tech comes out tomorrow.
RojoMuerte 5 Apr, 2024 @ 12:49pm
If it is refreshed will it allow doubles of genes? I've always wanted an easy way to see that I have collected all of the genes or maybe see which ones/how many are missing.
