I took the paintability off. I agree that it was pretty garish. Making things paintable tends to be the default since people can always choose not to use it, but I was never fully satisfied with it on this item.

Really cool concept, and a good execution, but why does the entire helmet have to be paintable? It shouldn't have paint at all since it's based off Soldier's default helmet, but if you want it to be paintable, why not just the tape or the straps?
But, if you REALLY want to paint the helmet itself, why not artificially dim the paint, like how the Full Metal Helmet handles paint? I think that'd be a nice compromise.

How about no paint region at all? There's no obligation for every item to be paintable. This is just the Soldier's default helmet with some gubbins on it. There's no reason to take a standard part of the character model and suddenly make it paintable just because you've added some extra stuff to it. We've had cosmetics that added stuff to this very helmet and they never made it paintable. I can guarantee you're going to get plenty of negative votes just from people who don't want to see the default Soldier helmet in hot pink, and you really can't blame them.

This is great, I think you should do a follow-up with some extra styles for it. a style that paints just the tape, and some cleaner version of the helmet, with cracks and bullet holes. but still dirty and damaged though. novel idea

It's fully paintable because I didn't come up with a different paint region. I might do a style that paints just the tape.

Is there any reason at all why it's fully paintable? Why not just the tape if it has to have paint regions?

I'd love to have this but i fear that its too similar to the Tin Pot and Helmet Without a Home and won't get added due to that but i've got my fingers crossed for it!
