Delete the files then let Steam verify integrity. It will see it is missing those files and will redownload those.


If that does not work, reinstall the game.

Copy-paste the backup files you made in the folder.

How do I take off the modifications? I really want to get rid of them to put the defaults back on.

These files are Bink video files, which means they have sound included by default.

Maybe it is because Left 4 Dead 2 uses a different resolution or quality for rendering its videos in the game, thus why the .bik videos having poor quality due to them being scaled and stretched for the game menu. Think this might be it, since when I watch the .bik video outside the game it looks very good.

To begin with, yes, you need to make back up copies of the music files that you are going to delete and back up copies of the original menu backgrounds in case you want to replace them later.
