Worked like a charm. Thank you very much.

@Fry McFly
I never even thought of that. Thanks very much for the suggestion, I'll try it tomorrow.

There are tools / websites that could solve your problem. Search for "steam mod downloader" with your trusted search engine.
Latex Santa 1 Mar, 2024 @ 8:45am
@TofuSojo
The direct download link of this mod in the description above is broken.
I can't imagine playing this game unmodded, let alone without this mod which I really like.
Could you please take the time and re-upload it? Steam screws up my mod downloading constantly.
Many, many thanks in advance.

Any way to program the AI to use this?
TofuSojo  [author] 29 Aug, 2016 @ 10:28pm
@Donald Trump Which is why I recommend its alternate version, Water Tiles Enhanced, which the AI does use.
Wololo-Pocalypse 20 Mar, 2016 @ 2:55pm
HOLY CRAP! A mod that makes those itty bitty 1-hex islands actually USEABLE!! XD
DerigarsChairman 1 Jul, 2015 @ 7:59pm
seriously Samuria are so OP now, well the promotions are nice already so why not!
DerigarsChairman 1 Jul, 2015 @ 7:58pm
One word JAPAN!!!
UncivilizedGuy 23 Jun, 2015 @ 6:20pm
@TofuSojo: is it just me, or does the AI not use this mod? I never see fishing boats on resourceless tiles.
PLAYER1 4 Jan, 2015 @ 7:24am
good graphics
TofuSojo  [author] 27 Dec, 2014 @ 12:51pm
@Xellos You have the BNW exp, right? Otherwise, I would have to guess you have a mod conflict.
Haremworld 26 Dec, 2014 @ 4:59am
Making resources works well.....but buildings are not T.T
Their functions and encyclopedia are not changed.
I tried several times include your Alternate mod, but failed.
I really want to use this mod.
Could you give me a tip please?? Thank you.
thistlebloom 15 Dec, 2014 @ 11:53pm
Does the Aquamining center make it so you don't get food from ocean tiles, but you get production now? Or is the "Mining operations make Ocean tiles unsuitable for large scale fishing" just a comment to go along with it?
TofuSojo  [author] 8 Nov, 2014 @ 2:53pm
Version 2 is out! See Change Notes up top for details. Remember, don't click the Update button in your mods lists in game, if you are still in the middle of a game!
El Presidente 17 Oct, 2014 @ 2:02pm
I wounder if the Mac method for getting mods to work, would work on the Linux version.
TofuSojo  [author] 15 Oct, 2014 @ 9:49am
@piccolo255 Wow, that is interesting. Makes sense. I might just restore the default then. Thanks for the article.

@satdanov Yeah SMAC had ocean trenches though their yields weren't any different. I would very much like a Civ game where we the oceans were as detailed and involved in gameplay as the land. Call to Power also did this, though that was a civ clone. It still did a few cool things.
Robo-Pig 15 Oct, 2014 @ 6:46am
Hey... I was looking at an article today that was about the ocean floor surface. That got me thinking, there could be so many possibilities, like having sonar stations scan the bottom of the ocean, allowing you to find mountains and drill them, and submarines being able to hide from a pack of destroyers in a trench. It may not be realistic, but it sure would be cool!

--Offshore Platform no longer produces food and Robotics adds 2 gold to them
Why does this produce large quantities of food? To compensate they get +2 gold instead from Robotics, so oil is lucrative, as it should be.

Seemed right to me, until today, when I saw the report that "offshore oil rigs are, hands down, the most productive fisheries on the planet ".
See the SoylentNews summary [soylentnews.org] or the original article at ArsTechnica [arstechnica.com].

So yeah, you may want to rethink the rationale or rework the bonus (+1 food/+1 gold?) :)

P.S. Your mods are great, keep up the good work!
TofuSojo  [author] 14 Oct, 2014 @ 8:47am
@m.d.nealy That would require altering the lua file that assigns resources, which is way beyond me and I think that may be going a bit too far, though I like the realism :)
m.d.nealy 14 Oct, 2014 @ 6:34am
Nice mod ! Have you considered adding a fish on every tile in the coast that is adjacent to a river ?
TofuSojo  [author] 13 Oct, 2014 @ 11:22pm
@dillbean Hit the green Subscribe Button, wait for Steam to download the mod when you launch Civ 5, then in your mod list click the green Enable Button and set up a game.
dillbean 13 Oct, 2014 @ 11:19pm
how do you get it to work
TofuSojo  [author] 13 Oct, 2014 @ 1:18pm
@scottrosenquist To be consistent with the other Great Leader he would then need to loose his "heal the fleet" ability because he has that instead of building a tile improvement, but I like the idea of the improvement itself. However, what art would it use? I am no artist and don't know how to model for Civ 5 :P.
dotmatrices 13 Oct, 2014 @ 11:10am
Can I post ideas here? I had ideas about improving water tile yields, and one thing i thought of was allowing the great admiral to create a wet dock on any coastal tile, improving gold and production at the same scale that other great person improvements would. What do you think?
TofuSojo  [author] 13 Oct, 2014 @ 9:28am
@bringweed I believe you can only build his ocean cities in Coast tiles and Ocean tiles adjacent to Coast tiles, so they can't be built in the middle of the ocean, but that shouldn't be hard to adjust in your own copy of his mod.
daundre 13 Oct, 2014 @ 9:26am
nice mod all we need now is for borders to show up on water in the mini map
bw 13 Oct, 2014 @ 8:46am
@TofuSojo I'll try them both in a game and see how they work together. However keep in mind that you can only create ocean cities in later ears, industrial at most if you check the advanced option, and by then your production and food would already be high, plus you don't get resources if you're in the middle of the ocean, and building a water city near the shoreline kind of defeats of purpose of ocean cities, which i see like more of a strategic outpost from where you could launch some planes in late game or dedicate it to ships production. But i'll give you some feedback on how they both work.
TofuSojo  [author] 13 Oct, 2014 @ 7:49am
@bringweed It may be overpowered because that mod buffs the water tiles' yields too.
bw 12 Oct, 2014 @ 11:37pm
Nice mod, this should work nice with the ocean cities mod.
TofuSojo  [author] 12 Oct, 2014 @ 4:48pm
@Ultimis Once I learn how and get around to it, I will probably change Japan's trait to only buff Fishing Boats on Sea Resources and get the AI to build them (if that is even moddable). Be aware, I have always considered this mod -- and it's alternate -- to be a fun, immersion mod, not a balance fix mod.
Ultimis 12 Oct, 2014 @ 4:25pm
This needs to be tweaked with Japan and the religion bonus that gives +1 production per fishing boat. Also the AI does not use this, so it gives a huge advantage to human players.
TofuSojo  [author] 11 Oct, 2014 @ 8:28pm
@Mutante They are both in the collection since they are to add to immersion/realism, but they are alternatives to eachother (they do the exact same thing, just in a different way), so aren't compatible with eachother.
Mutante de uma Figa 11 Oct, 2014 @ 8:21pm
It is in the same collection as Water Tiles Enhanced, so it won't conflict with it, right? I ask this because both change some buildings like harbor.
Willicus 11 Oct, 2014 @ 9:56am
Apart from the mod acheveiment
the_mad_magyar 11 Oct, 2014 @ 9:48am
@July You do realise that you don't get acheivements if your game is modded, right? And.... this guy makes mods... so... um.... you're dumb. :cgrazz:
TofuSojo  [author] 11 Oct, 2014 @ 8:02am
@recents Thanks. I started using mods as soon as I learned of them, so I stopped getting achievements very soon after starting playing this one. I can't stand the game unmodded. I think like so many games nowadays they didn't bother to finish or balance it since they knew it was somewhat moddable and they could patch it later...not that they ever patched away the bugs. The game still randomly crashes, etc.
Willicus 11 Oct, 2014 @ 5:48am
Cant wait to start my game this mod
Willicus 11 Oct, 2014 @ 5:48am
EPIC
Brhaspati 11 Oct, 2014 @ 12:52am
Good job, TofuSojo. Thanks for the effort and for sharing. I love Civ 5, been just playing this game (and AoW 3) for the last three years, made it through tons of scenarios and difficulties, but because I have mostly had a bad internet connection my stats show that I have unlocked something like 30 achievements. :) Who cares, it's about fun and immersion! Have a great day.
TofuSojo  [author] 10 Oct, 2014 @ 8:49pm
I then put it up for free for anyone else to use if they liked it, opening myself up to criticism, insults, trolling, etc. Polite suggestions and constructive feedback have always been welcome, but honestly I can't help thinking that most naysayers don't even try out the mod -- or even read all of the post -- to see how it actually works.

I hope everyone finds mods that make their game more fun for them. If you work up the nerve to learn to make them yourself, in your free time, and then post them for the public, more power to you.
TofuSojo  [author] 10 Oct, 2014 @ 8:49pm
@ Shiny Emerald. Not eactly a compliment, but thanks anyway.

The point is different people find different things fun. I don't care what score I get, or how many turns it takes me to win. If you do, good for you, go have fun with it. But I'm an old schooler; been playing Civ since I was 12 (CivNet). I care about building an empire, about smiting a neighbor because he dared to steal my land, etc -- about doing whatever it is I feel like doing.

What are the first two lines of this post? I missed something cool and fun from an old Civ game and I like my Civ to be as immersive as possible. I also wanted to see if I even could mod it into this game and it was a big learning curve at the time. I didn't know anything about modding improvements or art. I also spent many hours testing and trying to balance it as much as possible -- it is still probably somewhat OP. So what? Most mods are.
Emerald 10 Oct, 2014 @ 8:20pm
@July, Why are you even saying this? This guy has made a mod that over a thousand people subscribed to and you look at the fact that he is noobish. It's a game, it's for fun.
Seat 10 Oct, 2014 @ 5:08pm
yea july so rude i would like to see you make a mod
Kaptain Kappa 10 Oct, 2014 @ 3:58pm
@july why you gotta be a dick?
Kaptain Kappa 10 Oct, 2014 @ 3:57pm
oh man this mod seems kinda op, but i dont care its awesome!
Unorignallyoriginal 10 Oct, 2014 @ 3:40pm
Diilbean its already been downloaded onto your comp you just have to enanble it in game
𐂃𐂃 10 Oct, 2014 @ 3:40pm
Most of this guy's mods (such as this) are OP as hell, meant for nooblets. But then again, if you look at his stats, he hasnt even beaten difficulties higher than Prince: https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/profiles/76561198021569510/stats/CivV
