I have made a discord server, to better deal with the growing popularity of my mods, so head on over for bug reports and ideas.

would you be willing to add a psychic ritual to invoke unnatural darkness? I've been looking for a mod that adds it but cant find it :(

Also amazing mod! im so glad there is an infinite darkness option, I was really disappointed when the unnatural darkness ended in game after a week or two. thankyou for this gem <3

That is precisely the mod I was looking for since I listened to the Fire Lore of the Verses of the Technult last week. Keeping the fires lit, eternally, or perish. Thank you so much!

@Hammerlord: you'd likely be interested in True Unnatural Darkness. I use both that and this mod, a combination I like to think of as "truly advanced unnatural darkness."

After doing an unnatural darkness event I wanted to look for mods to spice it up, I have to ask, would it be possible to modify the darkness graphic to become truly pitch black (0 visibility except for maybe a 2 tile glow around colonists)? Nothing says advanced like having to remember the layout of your map if you don't want to have to tunnel through a mountain to get to the noctolith.

Thanks for the heads up.

@Nex Addo There is a new mod called "Lethal Darkness" that does exactly what you want, it makes unnatural darkness infinitely without noctoliths, but it re-enables all of the other events.
Nex Addo 24 Apr, 2024 @ 12:05pm
Perfect, thank you very much. Glad to know it won't be extra work for you :)

@Nex Addo Yes, it can be done, since Unnatural Darkness is technically a weather condition. If you have a way to make a certain weather permanent (it can be done with dev mode iirc), then nothing stands in the way of your idea. Just be sure to make Phase 2 permanent, since Phase 1 is the warm-up stage.

Is it possible to make it permanent permanent (regardless of noctoliths)? I was inspired when I found out this event to make a horror themed "Are you afraid of the dark" type pack. If not, nbd, still very happy to see this mod. Literally had the idea last night, and found your mod this morning.

Whoops that was a typo. Thanks for the quick fix.

@FrozenSnowFox 1.I would be extremely surprised, if you have set the minimum noctoliths, as I only set the maximum ;)
2. I have just made a fix, that should remedy your problem.
FrozenSnowFox 23 Apr, 2024 @ 10:03pm
I set the minimum Noctoliths to 6. When I had the unnatural darkness event I got 6 Noctoliths as intended. Each time I destroyed a Noctolith up to the third I got a Noctol attack. However, when I destroyed Noctoliths 4-6 they did not trigger any attacks from Noctols as they should. It seems like the extra Noctoliths don't trigger an attack wave for some reason?

Fantastic

Thank you for this. It was disappointing to learn the event will just vanish on its own. I guess it makes sense for some more extreme biome playthroughs.

NGL, this is really great. I love the option for infinite darkness. Thank you so much.
