Love, Space Core.
P.S. SPAAAAACE!!!
Lets say you have a ton of food in your inventory. Now you have all this jerky on top of it. The chances that some of this food is going to go to waste now is pretty high. This adds an extra bit of challenge to the game. Forcing you to time your food harvesting right so you don't end up wasting any. Now if you are able to cook the meat you can double the time you can keep it without it spoiling. Giving you more time to eat the food you have, before having to harvest your dry racks and replace with the new meat.
Now you just have Jerky and no worries of wasting any food by spoilage. And by wasting i'm referring to either eating food with a full belly or spoilage. So in other words this mod does make the game easier. Removing that challenge.
Btw. I am a big fan of your mods and i thank you for making this one. Even though personally it is not for me.
that gif tho
Thanks!
Now that my base game is running again, your mod is working just fine. No issues to be found.
Well, I got the issues cleared up with my base world. Seems for some reason I wasn't running it as an administrator, and that was the problem. I'll be trying out the world with mods today and I'll keep you updated. Yours is at the top of my list to try.
If it's crashing during world generation, I'll need to see your log after it crashes.
Have a look at this.

@Christopah
Yeah no kidding. It's not like you're getting 2 peices of meat for everyone 1 or something.
"Without challenge, there is no fun. It's not hypocritical, it's just true. Although it's only my opinion"
... you should read that again and find whats was wrong with those string of words.
Actually you are being hypocritical, or at the very least, you're contradicting yourself. You're saying: 1.There's no fun without challenge. 2. Don't Starve isn't hard. Following your logic, Don't Starve isn't fun. So why do you care if this mod decreases the challenge? It's already boring to you right?
And this may blow your mind, but not everybody thinks "challenge" is the same thing as "fun". If there's no fun without challenge then how has piss easy games like Portal, Garry's mod or Borderlands made it this far?
Besides, converting cooked meat into jerky barely impacts challenge at all. You're still only getting one piece of food in the end. All this mod does is give you the option to undo an oversight, either on your part or Klei's. It's hardly worth getting all upset over and it's certainly not a cheat.
But if you're obsessed with challenge then I've got the perfect mod for you .
This comment is real hypocritical. It ruins people's fun and tries to make them feel bad for using it. If you don't like the mod, just try to find a new one or make your own... I would especially like it if you made your own so I can criticize the everloving shit out of it. Keeping your negative opinions to yourself is not that hard...
Ah what you're refering to is called the dominant strategy theory. It basically means once a person is made aware of a method or strategy that works better or has a better outcome than all previous methods or strategies, then that's what the person will always do first. It seems like common sense to me but someone decided it needed a more scientific sounding name. I do the same thing with portal tests other people make though. Once I find an exploit or an overlooked skip, I don't bother trying to solve it the intended way and instead grade it based on how gamebreaking or how obvious the skip should have been when making the test.
I don't know a whole lot about making jerky but from what I understand, common jerky is made in a dehydrator or an oven so it seems likely the jerky in DS isn't "jerky" in the conventional sense.
As far as being healthier goes, long story short, it turns out animal fat is VERY good for you and oils like vegetable oil, corn oil, canola oil and pretty much any oil that isn't lard, actually increases your chance for heart disease. While lard itself can lower your LDL levels and help raise your HDL. So I don't think it would be healthier to cook the animal fats out of your meat before you dry it. tl;dr: Use lard, trash all other oils.
(For those other hardcores, don't give me shit about it being a game when you have shit like hardcore mode that enters bleeding and broken bones into a game where health is measured by a meter instead of a percentage.)
Makes a hellova lot of sense to be able to make jerky with cooked meat.
We know. I don't think anyone is singling you out here. This has been a long time ongoing thing within the modding community, and the gaming industry as a whole. Difficulty affecting mods vs hyper critical tryhards. If you make a mod that removes a small part of the game that violently assaults you, spits in your face and calls your mother a whore every time you screw up in the slightest, suddenly people all over the place call it OP and say it's only for untalented cheating noobs. I don't know if it's egotism, classism or just an almost fetishistic love for game-over/loading screens, but these people take it way too far. If they like a challenge, then good, great, couldn't be happier for them. But not everybody in the world enjoys a kick to the nuts every time they flap their arms and don't fly. Know what I mean?
That's the right attitude to have! It's not the mod that defines the game's difficulty, it's the person using it. Just because you can use something in an exploitive or game-breaking way doesn't mean you have to. I let everyone set the challenge to their own liking and it shouldn't matter if they set the spoil time to 5 days or 100, as long as they're happy with it.
Here you go.
