Yep, that's probably the issue. Follow the instructions on the Dragon Race/Race Engine page to install the mod locally, in your /Starbound/mods folder. The race mod itself doesn't function properly if it's installed through the Workshop.

yeah i have the dragon race mod installed, i dont know what you mean by standalone? i do have LOTS of other mods installed so they could be causing problems, i also have the dragon race engine.

this might just be a mod i have installed that messes with this for some reason but this only works like 10% of the time.
