i know why the cannons are not getting replaced, i learnt the gun system pretty much in and out by now, but its because they got new folder directories, but i just went through every single gun type in vanilla and valour to have custom sounds for each, required editing each file

Looks like the 'defines.inc' file crashes your mod, I tried changing it with the vanilla one, the hit and ricochet sounds work, but the cannons simply don't get replaced. I have no idea what's the issue haha.

I was able to create a custom local mod where I ported the hit, ricochets and cannon sounds. At least that's a nice workaround for now.

FYI, i also changed reload sounds a bit, and some less loud and newer impact sounds, all from WT, i got about 5000 if not more sound examples of war thunder to chose from

haha, well its a preference of mine since i mainly use editor, and i was tired of being restricted. although further testing is needed, because what took time in the failed project was to rename all the files, and make sure they all have the right volumes in db. Although i figured out you can very easily make a new sound a folder, and edit any gun to use that sound you desire. Thats how most mods though, and it might not be needed to rename files. Exampel i can provide is that i made a new folder in my game called 37mm, since ive been getting alot of new WT sounds, i can give you an preveiw here. So in theory i should be fully possible to change the sounds, question is if mods will overwrite them or no, it will require more testing maybe

In theory i could share all the gun files i have to fix it, although, their ranges are 5x original, for realism, and not balanced at all. So you can pretty much hit a T-34 at a range of 900, which is about 2-3x more than original 88mm gun

Its still a bit of a mystery to me, however some guns have an overlay of a second sound, example you see sound path "firesound-: Gun/gun_75_105 this would be before sound update
But now guns like the 88mm for some reason, and others take additional overlays in from 45mm guns, dont ask me why, i have no idea why devs would do this

i see, but i dont think its the solution for 122mm sound gets ovelaped by shorty 76mm sound out of nowhere...

im pretty sure its because they changed the path to gun sounds in one of the updates. So it would require editing every single gun type from 20mm to max caliber and change the path to the sounds. Now i did this last year so i could easily import it but its the gun definitions themself that is the problem. I tried replacing the new sounds where the new gun paths and files are, however it does not work replacing them

i just found out in live games,(conquest) t-28E's 76mm l-11guns sounds only works from certain angle. and from certain point it gets overlaped by default shorty 76mm shots. 20mm autocannon still works tho. (on all angles)

It should be semi possible to replace the main game sound files, thats what i did. So they always have them no matter what. However due to devs the guns definitions has been changed, some guns like the 88mm use a 45mm sound (for some unknown reason i dont see the logic in). I still use the old gun patterns from before sound update since they also have longer ranges

Soundmod is coming in hot, i expect it to be done sometime next week, with more gun variations than before. I don't hate the new sounds but to be honest they sound too quiet for me, so prepare for some powerful gun sounds
