hmm. There are other types of sugar, some look a bit brownish. Could be fun to make a light-brown texture. it would solve the saturation issue. You could also use both white and brown sugar to make a funny texture to break up the white

the blurredness of the salt is contrasting very well against the wood.

The wood contrasts too much I think, could use a little finer detail.
