Eclipses

Causes a strange effect where, if the sun is directly behind a planet, the atmosphere of that planet becomes a dull red all over. The moment the sun is no longer directly behind the planet, the atmosphere goes back to being dark like usual.
I've isolated my mods and I'm 100% sure it's caused by this mod.

@Ecthros Huh yeah I used that option and it's gone. I tried out lots of graphics settings with it on and it seemed the same regardless. I'm playing on an AMD gpu if that helps

@Space Ace The solar blocks dependency has been overhauled and should not cause that issue any more.

Also, by eclipse overlay are you referring to the lens flare occluder that is supposed to be invisible that appears over a planet that is having an eclipse? I added an option to the Config.xml to disable it if it is giving you trouble. It really is supposed to be invisible, but it shows up on some people's machines for some reason. Maybe there's some related graphical option that's affecting that.

Is there any chance you could release a version with just the distant shadows and no eclipse overlay?

I should add this has been an issue prior to contact, I just forgot to report it prior :/

One of the dependency mod is locking up the game when you separate a grid with a colorable solar panel. I removed solar blocks override and it fixed it. May want to look into that. It crashes my game 100% of the time.

Are there any places in the vanilla star system where total eclipses naturally happen?

Great mod. Seems to play nice with Correct Eye Adaption and Rendering Improved so far in my testing. Only issue ive found is sometimes the sun has to be a bit too covered, resulting in it sometimes shining through the eclipsed planet. https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/id/SpaceAce01/screenshot/2466364897880605730/

There is some sort of issue regarding sun position with Real Stars.

I'm not sure what is happening, but this mod on a world that didnt have it before causes the suns position to be incorrect to the real star's location

I posted it to the discord server. Thanks for the help!

If you post the full error on my Discord, I can take a look. If you get an error on load, though, make sure to restart the game before trying again, or you'll keep getting errors even if you remove the mods. SE doesn't clean up mod code correctly if it fails to load.

I'm unable to load up one of my worlds after relaunching the game, and I think it has something to do with this mod and it's exceptions. I created a custom world, and placed all the planets, some being your real star and real gas giants from your other two mods, but after editing the configs for them, I'm getting the message "There was an error while loading world! Check the log for information". Upon looking at the log, I noticed that the game unloaded the world upon getting a system.NullReferenceException from eclipses, solarBlockOverride.

It should be.
YOYOMAN_MODDER 13 May, 2024 @ 9:45am
Hello! this mod is compatible with Udarvis?
Echthros  [author] 11 May, 2024 @ 1:17am
It's not a real shadow. I just calculate the apparent visual size of the planet, the apparent visual size of the star, and how much they overlap, then use that to apply modifiers to the global sunlight brightness and atmo brightness of the planet you are on (if you're on one). It should be relatively cheap to run.

does this hurt performance? ik shadows are costly, but over such a large distance. i'm kinda curious
GigaCars 9 May, 2024 @ 9:13am
nice, i can imagine loosing a lot of power to one of these just because i placed solar panels in the wrong position

that's what batteries are for lol
Kengored 8 May, 2024 @ 1:47pm
damn, i remember having an eclipse on one of the saves but it was meh, hope that if i ever encounter one again with this mod it will be better
Echthros  [author] 8 May, 2024 @ 10:42am
No, it only modifies visuals and solar blocks.
sSpaze 8 May, 2024 @ 10:41am
does this interfere with any planet mods or anything like ore mods?
Blues Hailfire 8 May, 2024 @ 8:33am
Dude that's sick
