Just as an FYI,

"Error: Undefined event target 'target'" &
"Error: Event target link 'scope' returned an unset scope"

both occur in the log when clicking on countries and are both reported at:

"Script location: common/scripted_effects/liberate_country_as_subject.txt:5

Very nice mod! What do you think about the laws the newly released country has depending on which option is selected? So if you choose independence the laws are the same as the nation you released from, but as a full puppet they fully copy your laws, with the other options having something in-between.

released countries always have super high liberty desire, because they always have anti-overlord lobbies, but never pro-overlord lobbies. also since using this mod (without any other mods), my subjects tend to get WAY more support independences, which makes decreasing autonomy almost impossible. idk if this is something caused by the mod, but i tried playing the game with only this mod active and it still happens.

I have this mod for like 2 versions and it never appeared the correct mensage on the toolbox, it still works but it goes like "release-subject-1"

Figured out the issue, my apologies. I'd fixed it for my modpack which has changes to the subject types. Should work perfectly now.

Tried again with just "add to bloc" and it worked fine. So it's making a dependent nation that breaks.

Agree with the hotfix breaking this mod. I get to make the protectorate/dominion/puppet or add to my bloc and then right after that, the nation goes independent and/or leaves my bloc.

I think something might have broken with the hotfix fyi, I keep losing my puppets on people weirdly.

@Crosspike ever since Make Dominion was added back into the game, the dominion option here should be pretty much the same infamy cost as the Make Dominion play would be. It uses the same back-end calculation, albeit slightly tweaked. Protectorate is cheaper because of how this used to work, though this patch has changed subject types. The mod at least works for 1.8, but I'm gonna do another pass at it soon to add new subject types and tweak values.

I'm open to adding game rules that increase the infamy cost, I just reject the notion that this isn't balanced when it literally uses the same infamy cost calculation as the existing wargoals.

Any chance you could make a balanced version that has double infamy values? Maybe triple for making a country a protectorate or dominion.
