My common sense says breaking a shield should take a lot of strength. Would be more likely when using two handed axe or sword. Breaking a steel shield should be impossible. If a javelin penetrates a shield, it becomes unusable (too heavy with a stuck javelin): one main function of javelins.

I will add Lindwurm shield soon when i can upload.(i don't why i can't upload it,just blame steam)
