Also, to reduce filesize (which makes a mod more likely to be used via Outfitter and therefore more subs)

Use DXT1 compression when a texture has no transparency. DXT5 when there is transparency.
Make sure not leave PNGs or JPGs in the files.
Texture sizes over 2k aren't recommended and if a texture looks good at 1k, it's better to do 1k, most people won't notice the quality loss.
