I first downloaded this one shortly after you released it years ago, but had never gotten around to actually playing a full game as them. Finally did so a couple days ago, and i absolutely loved it. Definitely gave me a unique experience, as I focused on run-of-the-mill buildings during golden ages that usually wouldn't be a priority for me, and so all that extra culture from them eventually added up. This may be one of your oldest mods, but it's an absolute blast to play even still.

Updated (putting this here since the changelog isn't working apparently):
- JFDLC support: UA: Receive Captains also when expending Great Generals for Citadels.
- Decisions: If playing with JFDLC, the General Massa decision will now cost Captains instead of Magistrates.
- Decisions: Massa Decision is now enactable when no Barbarian Units are within your borders (bonus is still increased if there are however).
- Decisions: Change Decisions text to JFD’s formatting.
- UU: Admirals increase the damage dealt by the UU now as well (in addition to Generals as before).
- Misc: Generally updated code.
- Misc: Removed internal support for JFD’s TopPanel thing.
- Art: Fixed map so it’s not clipping in the civ selection menu.
- Events: Disabled Events and added to DMS’ Events mod instead. They can easily be reactivated in the UserSettings file if one wishes to stick with Sukritact’s Events.

hi man, this is a pretty cool and goog mod. I've had a lot of fun playing with it. Though i have a question. I think that I have a pretty cool idea for a new civ, it's actually a buffed netherlands but only than specified. If you would like to knw more please let me know. Thank you

"Dio Vi Salvi Regina" is the right name, cause it has been written in italian at the time. In corsican it's "Diu Vi Salvi Regina", but we both use "Dio" or "Diu" to refer to the anthem ;)

By the way I'm considering changing the name of the UA to "Dio vi Salvi Regina" as that was the Republic's Anthem. What would that be in corsican?

Fyi, "fortezza" is the italian term, but in Corsica it would be "furtezza" or "Citadella" (which is the name of the monument on the picture you use, the Citadella of Corti, the capital of Paoli's Republic), same thing for "buon selvaggio", that would be "bravu salvaticu" ;)
I've played with and against Paoli and your mod is very good. Good to hear that you will change the UU a little bit, it was maybe a bit weak.
If you need any info about Corsica/corsican language for your mod, feel free to ask I'd be glad to help you improving your amazing mod.

There's a update coming soon-ish with a lot of bugfixes, a few changes to the UU and some graphical improvements along with compatibility for more mods (including Events and Decisions).

Quick note - the icons don't show up for Civ IV Leader Traits. You forgot the "_DESC" at the end of his leader tag in the .sql file - it should be "TXT_KEY_LEADER_PASQUALE_PAOLI_DESC".

@ruhrgebietheld. Sounds weird about the CTD - I have no idea what could cause this. Maybe it's related to the new civ5 patch? I any case, it's annoying. If anyone else is experiencing this when updating, please let me know.
Regarding the alternative download link, then it's fixed now. Apparently I screwed something up last time updated the description. Hope it works now.

So now, it crashed while updating. Tried unsubscribing and deleting its files, and then resubscribing. Started to download, then crashed again. repeated the process a few times, and it always crashed while downloading. The direct download link doesn't work either. Is there any other way to get this civ?

The latest update has done something screwy with all the descriptions for this civ. They're replaced by what appears to be capital-lettered code.

@NerdExtrodinare. Okay. I did consider only letting you receive a Great General every second time you are declared war upon, but that just seemed kind of 'off'. I know you if you want to can generate A LOT of Great Generals both by pissing off the AI and by taking advantage of the UB, and if you like to play 'wide' you can from mid-game and forth almost go from one Golden Age to the next. The price being that you are in constant war hurting both Science (via agreements) and your economy (trade routes). This is pretty risky since the uniques contribute to neither of these. Also, since the UU (cheap as it may be) isn't really that strong, stacking combat bonuses from Great Generals does not (easily) allow an enemy-Capital-capture-spree, and thus a Domination Victory (though it is of course possible - also on higher difficulties).
At least, that's what I had in mind ;)

I'm not entirely sure if it's OP, but it's quite powerful. Might also do with the fact that I play on higher settings and in those settings countries really want to kill you. I've had 8 civs declare war on me in a matter of turns so that's from the perspective of "I see war a lot" and that's a lot of generals and a lot of Golden age points. Also the idea of specialists working towards a great general is unique though I'm not sure how to balance it as they're not designed to do that, but on the other hand don't give much beside combat bonuses like say, a great scientist does.

@NerdExtrodinare. You mean as in OP? I've done a lot of playtesting and have concluded that the UA isn't too powerful.
But please elaborate: is the amount of Golden Age points you receive per turn per GG in a city while at war too much? I'm of course very interested in getting the civ to be as balanced as possible.

@Alexandervv No the UA only triggers when another major civ declares war on you. Otherwise you could be in a Golden Age almost through the entire game.

1) It doesn't have Events and Decisions support yet, but I'm working on it. I've one decision mostly done, but two is kind of standard, so I want to come up with one more before adding it officially.
I also want to add Events, and have a couple of ideas, but nothing coded yet.

2) I'm going to :D I've started working on my next civ, which is hopefully done before the end of this month. You can follow the progress on Civfanatics if you want to.
