Handlebar's Cured Meat

Handlebar  [author] 26 Jun @ 8:17am
I used this the other day in my playthrough on B41 no issue.

You salt the meat, the cure it on the oven. It takes a fair amount of time to cure. Several in-game hours.

What version of the game are you using? Any other major food mods?
beardedbanana469 25 Jun @ 11:34pm
everytime I try to cook it after salting It burns or goes rotten what am i doing wrong
Handlebar  [author] 8 Mar @ 5:59pm
Salt and a supported meat, then cook it to dry it out. Takes a while!
supernova backshots 8 Mar @ 5:54pm
how do I cure it?
Handlebar  [author] 27 Jan @ 3:36pm
Haven't tested, been holding off on B42 stuff till MP is released. You are welcome to try and report back.
Zukipuki 27 Jan @ 12:33pm
does it work on b42?
Gimbo 27 Nov, 2024 @ 4:47pm
i like sandwiches when i go for a long exploration but yeah doesn't work
Handlebar  [author] 27 Nov, 2024 @ 4:01pm
I do not know, I know I added it to the recipe list, and if it is showing in the crafting menu it should work.

I'm usually a hobo and do not make fancy things ingame such as sandwiches. haha.
Gimbo 27 Nov, 2024 @ 1:45pm
yes, i cooked it, it was ready but nothing
Handlebar  [author] 27 Nov, 2024 @ 11:23am
Did you cook the cured pork to cure it?
Gimbo 27 Nov, 2024 @ 7:50am
vanilla, in the helper it say i can use it but i have the bread slice and cured pork and i cannot do it
Handlebar  [author] 27 Nov, 2024 @ 7:45am
Is the sandwhich recipe from a mod?
Gimbo 27 Nov, 2024 @ 5:59am
i was trying to use the pork cured meat to make a sandwich and i cannot use the cured meat
Handlebar  [author] 15 Nov, 2024 @ 3:45pm
I can look at adding it. I added it to vanilla recipes and I'm unsure why it is not working.

I should be done my move mid December and plan on revisiting all of my mods.
Legion222 15 Nov, 2024 @ 3:10pm
I'm on the same page as @TheNovaBox. It kinda sucks having four salt containers, but can't use any of it for even vanilla recipes because they aren't "Salt".
Handlebar  [author] 8 Nov, 2024 @ 5:15pm
Yes, will last longer frozen
Gimbo 8 Nov, 2024 @ 5:35am
they last longer in the freezer?
Jokemercy 7 Nov, 2024 @ 7:58am
I know to cure the prepped meat, but hmm, maybe I did just forget to do that part lol.
Handlebar  [author] 7 Nov, 2024 @ 2:41am
@jokemercy.

Are you cooking them? You have to cook to cure them. They should last 30- 60 days
Jokemercy 6 Nov, 2024 @ 11:31am
How long are cured meats supposed to last? I'm finding things I've prepped from fresh are only lasting a few days if kept in the fridge. Maybe I should store them somewhere else?
Naked Buffalo 6 Nov, 2024 @ 11:18am
Finally, thank you.
Handlebar  [author] 27 Oct, 2024 @ 4:18pm
All items are now up to par with the fish framework, everything should carry over after butchering. I plan on updating this mod with the new patch/content if it does not include this in the base game.
TheNovaBox 24 Oct, 2024 @ 5:14pm
the larger salt container is great, but can you add the ability to break it down into the standard salt item? then it will be compatible with recipes from other mods.
niero 22 Oct, 2024 @ 1:46am
this should've been a basic feature in the vanilla version since you can get anything you need to make this happen
Handlebar  [author] 16 Oct, 2024 @ 6:56am
The fish is a framework for the rest and was essentially a test bed. I plan on updating all the same way the fish is soon. Possibly tomorrow nite.
LegosFreak 15 Oct, 2024 @ 10:56pm
So I love this mod and use it a lot, but only really for fish. Just made the cured rabbit and it is all the same. Is it only the fish that carries their nutrition value? Because I used 80 to 100 nutrition value rabbit and it all turned out as the -15 cured with the exact same stats. Just wanted to know for later use
Handlebar  [author] 5 Oct, 2024 @ 5:24pm
No worries. Let me know.
chicken leg 5 Oct, 2024 @ 2:10pm
thank you, i will keep you updated just incase.
Sorry for the late response, i was doing a small hike.
Handlebar  [author] 5 Oct, 2024 @ 11:23am
Just updated with a version I can confirm works. Hope that fixes your issue.
Handlebar  [author] 5 Oct, 2024 @ 11:18am
That is weird. Do you have any other mods? I will update to my current version, but I think it is still the same.
chicken leg 5 Oct, 2024 @ 9:35am
when its cooked and uncooked it retains the calories though
chicken leg 5 Oct, 2024 @ 9:35am
no no, even when it's cooked it's still zero
Handlebar  [author] 4 Oct, 2024 @ 3:01pm
I just looked. Your cured food should have Hunger. Your raw food is at a zero for hunger but has calories correct?
chicken leg 4 Oct, 2024 @ 8:24am
no problem! i find this mod essential for my playthroughs so i found it a little annoying
Handlebar  [author] 4 Oct, 2024 @ 8:19am
So calories but no hunger reduction. I'll fix this weekend. Thank you for letting me know.
chicken leg 4 Oct, 2024 @ 7:54am
it just says "0"
chicken leg 4 Oct, 2024 @ 7:53am
Yeah, The food has the green colouring over the text but all it gives me is calories and no food.
Handlebar  [author] 3 Oct, 2024 @ 1:35pm
Shouldn't. I resolved that a while ago...... I thought.

Is that what you're seeing?
chicken leg 3 Oct, 2024 @ 12:03pm
not sure if i've asked this before, but is this supposed to give the prepped food 0 hunger?
Handlebar  [author] 30 Sep, 2024 @ 3:06am
It should be found in restaurants and grocery stores.

Thanks for the kind words!
VerdantSF 29 Sep, 2024 @ 5:33pm
Love this mod! Which search focus does salt fall under?
Tavoletta 20 Sep, 2024 @ 5:18am
to try adding something for the already suggested "smoked cure", you could simply see how Crematorium mod works, which adds a right click menu options for open fires to burn down corpses... maybe you could so a similar workaround
The Real Billy Borso 15 Sep, 2024 @ 2:28pm
add horse meat
Handlebar  [author] 22 Aug, 2024 @ 10:52am
It is! I'll add this to the FAQ
jayjay4899 22 Aug, 2024 @ 10:30am
yo is this mp
Handlebar  [author] 31 Jul, 2024 @ 4:08pm
Thanks Sean. That is exactly the goal for this. Currently I can't figure out a way to identify the cooking container as a campfire/wood stove/charcoal grill
Sean 31 Jul, 2024 @ 1:30pm
I was looking for a simple mod to preserve meats (other than freezing) with no other major additions. This is perfect, thanks for making it.
(It would also be pretty cool if you could prep meats in some way and then cook over a campfire to smoke them, if possible)
Handlebar  [author] 30 Jul, 2024 @ 11:43am
Haha. I like cursed meat. Sounds spooky.
=♥Ramelouisse♥= 30 Jul, 2024 @ 3:25am
I read the title as cursed meat lol, cool mod anyway
Handlebar  [author] 27 Jul, 2024 @ 7:39pm
Updated! Fish now holds 80% (aswell as other meats) of its nutritional value. Resolved issues with meats disappearing in multiplayer. Dag on "OnCreate!".

Enjoy, everyone let me know if you have any issues.
