All of the e motor controls are in the e motor/stern torpedo room.
Markas  [author] 5 Apr @ 12:15pm
First of all activate the main power, there are two key buttons to do so, one in the control room and the other in the stern torpedo/e motor room. After that activate the panel power for the e motor panels there are two separate switches for each panel, then turn on the motor/generator power switches one for each motor, finally turn on the starting contactor for each motor separately. After all of these steps increase the throttle.
CHom048 5 Apr @ 10:56am
Sorry to ask, but where do you find the e motor power button?
Markas  [author] 5 Apr @ 10:52am
Make sure to turn on the e motor power. There are switches on the floor in the torpedo room to move the floor covers, make sure to move them one at a time.
CHom048 5 Apr @ 10:11am
is There a way to remove forward torpedo floor cover?
CHom048 5 Apr @ 9:22am
how do you drive underwater and turn e motor on? i did put e motor throttle to 0.6 but rpm is 0

Make sure to pump water into the trim system before trying to move it from one tank to the other.
Markas  [author] 5 Apr @ 2:19am
Flooding the trims: open water inlet, main pump inlet, pump to trim system (stbd pump). Trim system connection, pump output connection, trim output connection (port pump). Open the trim valve and select which tank to pump water into forward or back. Turn on both pumps. All of this is done from the control room. After all of these steps you can check the level of water in the trim tanks from the fwd or stern torpedo rooms depending on the tank. Moving water from one tank to the other using compressed air: Turn on both trim direction buttons, open the trim valve, select which tank to send compressed air to to push the water out, open the compressed air valve. Moving water from one tank to the other using pumps: trim system connection, pump output connection, trim output connection (port pump). Open the trim valve, set the direction to pump water to, activate the port pump.

How do you control the trims?

instructions on how to use bilges/pump system
Markas  [author] 4 Jan @ 4:16am
Yeah I know. I wanted to make it as realistic as I could which meant adding all of the different tanks and making a realistic fuel system which the game doesn't really like, duo to how buoyancy works in game. To combat this I have had to rely on some pivot glitches to improve buoyancy which does screw up optimization. Performance will be better if you spawn it in far from any islands. Disabling addons, using lower physics settings can help a lot as well.

I love it, but my PC doesn't
Markas  [author] 14 Nov, 2024 @ 8:52am
That probably means that you didn't set up the fire control system correctly. If you want the torp to go straight you can switch the bow gyro angle receiver mode to manual which will allow you to set the gyro angle. The receiver is in the front torpedo room above the tubes. Or you can follow the steps of setting up the system and firing at non moving targets in the description.

what should I do if, after launching, the torpedo goes sideways after a few meters?
Markas  [author] 22 Sep, 2024 @ 10:27pm
Yes, but with my sub I've tried to keep the ballast, bunker, trim and regulating tanks as realistic as possible which has made it more difficult to do, at least in Stormworks. But like I've said I do plan on making improvements, even to the rest of the submarine. I plan on updating the TDC, interior detailing, ballast, depth control and other systems. Don't know when I'll get around to doing so, but feedback is welcome.
Saju 22 Sep, 2024 @ 11:27am
My sub can be neutrally buoyant even when diesel is consumed and its quite easy to maintain/establish.
grantw302 22 Sep, 2024 @ 11:15am
Thanks, will definitely try that, still love the creation!
Markas  [author] 20 Sep, 2024 @ 10:26am
Well I can improve it in the future, but it won't be perfect. Neutral buoyancy will still be hard to get and it will still take a while to do so. Of course you will also have to think about things like fuel and torpedoes. IRL they had to track the amount of provisions consumed, fuel used and torpedoes fired and doing this especially in a video game can be quite annoying and challenging so even if I make it better most people won't even bother using the regulating and trim tanks.
Saju 20 Sep, 2024 @ 3:00am
You really should fix that. Subs should be able to hold depth even when stationary with the help of trim tanks and remain level.
Markas  [author] 19 Sep, 2024 @ 6:20am
Yeah I know that it does that, It's not supposed to do so but the sub still holds depth fine so I didn't fix it. You can blow main ballast tank 1 which is the stern most ballast tank, to help. A higher speed/throttle setting also helps a lot. BTW ballast tanks 2 and 4 are are full of fuel when you spawn in the boat so unless all of the fuel from them is used you don't need to flood or blow them.
grantw302 18 Sep, 2024 @ 3:21pm
Sub is absolutely amazing, but when I dive it, the ship always wants to tilt back with the bow sticking up. The depth hold works, but the ship is always angled up a ton. Ive tried flooding the way the instructions say, as well as with tanks 2 and 4, but nothing seems to fix it.
Markas  [author] 27 Aug, 2024 @ 8:53am
No problem.
SyborgCat 27 Aug, 2024 @ 6:43am
okay cheers
Markas  [author] 27 Aug, 2024 @ 6:11am
You need to open the floor panel, there are two flip switches in the front torpedo room on the ground next to the step to get into the rest of the sub. Then you can use the torpedo loading rail to lift the torps up.
SyborgCat 27 Aug, 2024 @ 4:43am
Right but how do I get torpedoes in and out of the floor pannel?
Markas  [author] 27 Aug, 2024 @ 4:20am
Thanks. To load the torps into the sub you can use the selection grid or manually load using a crane through one of the torpedo loading doors. To reload the tubes you need to pick up a torpedo using the torpedo loading rail, then you need to open the hatch for the tube, alighn the rail with a torpedo tube, then using the hand crank push the torp into the tube.
SyborgCat 27 Aug, 2024 @ 4:09am
cool uboat
how do you reload/load torpedoes
Lokisan 6 Aug, 2024 @ 6:08am
Awesome. Will check this out and see what I can learn from it. Thank you very much.
Markas  [author] 6 Aug, 2024 @ 4:51am
I could, but the system has a good amount of problems, the calculations aren't very accurate, and there are a lot of limitations with my system. I have asked someone who understands TDC systems better, to make a better version, one that will account for parallax and will make much more accurate calculations. I don't know when his system will be finished, but when it is he probably will upload it to the workshop for everyone, so the best thing to do is wait for the new system. But even with that I have made a test bed for the tdc already, and if you're interested I can link it.
Lokisan 6 Aug, 2024 @ 4:26am
Is it possible for you to extract the targeting computer and all the microcontrollers and add them to a Torpedo Test bed? I would like to integrate your TDC system into my sub (full credit of course) but looking at your work, there are a lot of "decoration" blocks :P and I would need to take apart the whole boat like that. Great work and cheers!
Markas  [author] 28 Jul, 2024 @ 1:35am
You can drive it from the top of the conning tower, from within the conning tower and from the control room. Note that throttle is controled from the engine room.
de_blog 27 Jul, 2024 @ 12:58pm
where do you drive???
Markas  [author] 20 Jul, 2024 @ 10:21am
Sure.
Saju 20 Jul, 2024 @ 10:19am
Could we start by looking at each others subs and dm what we like and don't like?
Markas  [author] 20 Jul, 2024 @ 10:15am
Sure, how do you want to do it?
Saju 20 Jul, 2024 @ 10:05am
I challenge you to a Type VII competition! Let's find out who's is better!
Markas  [author] 15 Jul, 2024 @ 2:54am
To spawn it in using a mission, go to the pause menu, click 'addon editor' then click 'add unique location' and choose an island or a part of the map, when you have a map selected, click 'edit objects', on the buttons below click 'add vehicle'. when you have placed the vehicle, click 'addon overview' and 'test location' (the flag icon on the map).
kobiebaby 13 Jul, 2024 @ 6:30pm
how do i use the mission editor? Im sorry im not to good with stormworks
Markas  [author] 11 Jul, 2024 @ 11:30pm
You either need to use a modded workbench or use the mission editor.
kobiebaby 11 Jul, 2024 @ 1:29pm
where would you spawn this?
Markas  [author] 30 Jun, 2024 @ 5:46am
The aft ballast vent is at the stern of the control room above the hatch.
Cap'n Clayhawk 30 Jun, 2024 @ 3:01am
Where is the aft ballast tank switch ?
the chimi changas 28 Jun, 2024 @ 1:49am
hmmm.. is nice
Markas  [author] 26 Jun, 2024 @ 9:24am
Thanks and yes I have started work on a type II already, doubt that I will make the type IX but I have thought about building the type XXI.
Yo Gabba Gabba! 26 Jun, 2024 @ 8:46am
Incredible work.

Any plans for Type II or IX?
Orca26 25 Jun, 2024 @ 4:44pm
Nevermind
Orca26 25 Jun, 2024 @ 4:42pm
Am I stupid? I cant find where the power switches are located in control and the aft torpedo room??
