Thanks for the report, if there is anything else you think could be fixed or you need help with, just ask :)
2) The alt. hold isn't really strong, but if you just give it a push and make it not fall from the sky, the plane will stabilize. Additionally, the alt. hold doesn't act unless the desired altitude is within reach (500 ft). If it is not, I would recommend hand flying it near the altitude or using the alt. change mode.
additionally, the altitude hold seems to like pointing the nose toward the ground even when i'm below the alt it needs to climb to (i try to set around 3000ft) so this might also worth be looking into.
lastly, trying to land with the config you've specified seems to be damn near impossible. that said, i realize i'm yet to try trimming the plane out, so will give that a shot.
if these could please be looked into, this would be much appreciated :)
