As far as myhouse.wad, I've never played it, but did watch a video essay on it. It sounds like a really cool mod! After watching the video essay, I did actively add a fun quirk into the full neighborhood release (should be coming out this week) that somewhat resemble it. If you're a fan of the myhouse.wad mod, I hope you enjoy the full neighborhood release.
As far as this specific house goes though, resemblance to the myhouse.wad mod is purely coincidental lol. The primary source of inspiration for this house was actually just a random IRL house.. Was browsing random neighborhoods in streetview, saw one that I really liked, and modeled the facade to resemble it. The interior was designed based on constraints of the exterior facade.
This update was just some super minor things in preparation for the full neighborhood release.. For all the houses, the changes really were limited to the following:
-Lighting color has been changed to be warmer
-Addition of doorbell/smoke detector in houses that didn't already have one
-Super minor bug fixes
I tend to work a couple houses ahead (this provides ample time for testing and adjustments), so the release of this house actually corresponds with the completion of a completely different house.. In this case, 28 Oak was just completed.
Currently finishing up 28 oak.
So far, each house has taken approximately a month to finish.
My goal is end of September for project completion, but the next 2 months are going to be particularly busy for me, so dont be surprised if that goal slips a bit.
a urban loft sounds like the least interesting one, teardown isin't exactly missing out on the converted warehouse vibe and its just more residential, hospitals have different departments but apartments look kinda samey
hosptials also have super interesting basements (mine had a tunnel to a basement that didint exist anymore, this is a project that would probably be best done with WAY2GO's help, bright valley correctional center is pretty good accuracy wise
-suburban strip mall with a large grocery store, and some outparcel fast food restaurants (would be its own map, but would be in the same "world" as oak st)
-hospital (Sounds like a fun build & would present opportunities for some fun building systems & potential quest options)
-Historic urban warehouse converted into loft apartments (Toyed with the idea a long time ago, but may revisit the concept.. has some good potential quest & building systems options)
-natural gas power plant (thinking it would be fun to build a functional scripting heavy build similar in concept to Voxelstice's absolutely incredible Sivirsky Hydroelectric power plant)
An antenna would fit into the lore of 22 oak st. May or may not be included.
@warningnukesahead - Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning..
Every house has the ductwork modeled to every room + the associated equipment (furnace, air conditioning compressor, thermostat)
@melon_pult - Im aiming for 3ish months, but thats not set in stone
@moesalma65 - Im currently working on a 4 bed, 3 bath house. I don't intend on creating a 5 bed house unfortunately.
This white block is part of the doorbell system.. It’s supposed to represent the “chime” part of the doorbell. Breaking it will disable the doorbell.
@Neon - Will investigate.
@Meanwater - The goal of this project is indeed to create Oak St as a whole. The street includes 12 houses & a gas station. I have some pics of it's progress on my profile.
