@thereal_rand: The U.S. Census bureau provides a dataset called Census Transportation Planning Products (CTPP) to the public. I actually tried to add Canada to this, but as far as I could tell, the Canadian census charges quite a bit for their comparable dataset. I was able to find some stuff for greater Toronto on a University of Toronto website (don't remember the details, sorry). If you have a university affiliation (or access to a university library login), you might be able to get it all free.

My understanding is that the U.S. Census's role is somewhat unique given how old it is... many countries charge money for this kind of thing.
