It would be so much more essential to make a mod with a switch prohibiting beavers to eat berries at all. Right now iron teeth are just unplayable on hard, because they eat out berries, i.e. voluntarily extinct.

A very good mod, however, with current balancing, you'd need an enormous berry farm to actually be able to sustain food and medicine production. I'd suggest at least adding a feature of doubling the output of each berry bush so it actually makes sense to have it in game.

This mod is great, now berries are an actual valuable resource past the very early game! I love seeing my fields of berries and having to build storage for it instead of being just "backup food"!

Somehow the old mod Berries are Nutritious was installed even though I did Not have it Subscribed. I had to delete it from the SteamLibrary\steamapps\workshop\content\1062090 folder.
Seems something in either the Mod.io web site or Steam is broken.

When they get hungry, beavers try to eat whichever food has the lowest satisfaction, i.e. the food they have eaten least recently, or whatever new type of food has become available.
When you first activate this mod all beavers will try to eat berries because their berry satisfaction is likely to be zero.
If you are not producing enough berries then beavers will go and eat them all as soon as they become available, because their need for berries will be chronically under-satisfied.
You should also have a storage for berries near where most of your beavers live/work, but that's a generic tip that applies to all foods.

Note that berry bushes are not efficient in terms of space: to feed 1 beaver solely on berries requires about 11 bushes, versus 4 tiles of carrots.
To work out the minimum number of bushes required, multiply your population by 11 and divide by the total number of foods available. For example, if you have 12 beavers eating berries, carrots, and grilled potatoes, you need 12 x 11 / 3 = 44 berry bushes (and 16 tiles of carrots 18 tiles of potatoes, including a slight margin of safety).

Is it possible to adjust the Berries ranking or priority in food selection. I've been finding that with the mod running the beavers seem to be going for the berries ahead of other food sources that are more readily and easily available, even if it means almost going from one side of the map to the other.

As far as I can tell it is not possible to make an item like berries satisfy a need for only one faction, I have to make it work for both Folktails and Iron Teeth, or neither of them.

how do we use this with the iron teeth as the beavers will eat all the berries and not leave any for the breeding pods

@BooBooFastCat I've updated the mod to version 1.0.1 to support Greedy Beavers. If Steam doesn't want to download the new version, verify your Timerborn files to force the update.

I do not have the Nutritious mod installed. Just this one. But it was acting just like that for me. Not sure why. 🫤

i am experiencing crashes while using this with the greedy builders mod when using the faction added by it but it works when i disable this mod do you have any idea on how to solve the issue

In this mod beavers eat berries just as much as any other food. Did you also have Berries Are Nutritious activated? That mod is bugged and causes beavers to eat an almost limitless amount.

Otherwise, berries are the least efficient crop in terms of land use. For example, to completely feed your starting population of 12 beavers you need 128 berry bushes, compared to 43 tiles of carrots.

So I like the thought of this mod a lot, but for some reason my beavers were addicted to berries. Like, they could never get enough. It was like they preferred berries over anything else, and there was no way to keep up with demand with a sizable colony. Had to disable it for now. The need for berries I think needs to be lowered by a lot.

Beavers continue to enjoy eating berries after other foods become available.
Berries also provide +1 well-being.

Still contains that bug Jane. My beavers all refused to eat despite having 1000s of berries in the DC at the start of my playthrough

This is a replacement for Berries Are Nutritious as that mod contains a bug causing berries to not satisfy hunger.
