Know any other alternative sound mods?
Because if not, the problem can only be on your end, logically, as the mod wasn't updated since September 2016.
I can't verify it at the moment, but I am not aware of any patches and even if - it is highly unlikely due to the nature of this mod (technically), that it just wouldn't work anymore after a patch.
This might only be happening to me though.
I worked on the mod again to achieve compatibility with the current version.
While it runs, I had to compromise a little. Some weapons share the same sounds, because the original R6 games only offer so many different sounds. If this is an 'issue', is up to you.
Please, if you encounter any issues, let me know and I will fix it asap.
Hope people still enjoy this! :)
I haven't played DK in quite a while, nor did I work on this mod.
I will update it sooner or later - but for now anyone who wants to use this should follow Aciid's advice.
Replace all soundassets to preload="false" in object_library/rainbow_sounds.xml
This can be done quite quickly with Sublime Text 2 or Notepad++ ( Free )
Technically it seems that the game crashes or buffers overflow while gathering and loading this many assets.
But yeah I was talking about the voices mostly, being from RS. The musics too are mostly from RS I kinda remember. But I can be mistaken as I don't have your mod anymore. Both voices/musics are a little different from the 1999 R6. Especially the female voices.
But what do you mean "read mod description" as for my splitting your package into different mods? Do you mean the part "total conversion"? If so I understand then. But this would prevent a few people, me included, to just mod voices for example. The bigger the mod, the harder it is to not make it conflict with other mods.
Anyway, so I guess I'm just gonna keep my mod for my own usage, cheers man!
- give you my mod so you can make an alternative version
- ask you to rename your mod stating it's mostly Rogue Spear sounds
- ask you to split your mod in separate packages (like voices only, musics only, SFX, weaps etc.)"
- Not interested.
- You are mistaken. Music is R6, Voices are RS, Guns and foley are RvS.
- Read the mod description.
It is up to you what you gonna do with your stuff.
So I am here to either:
- give you my mod so you can make an alternative version
- ask you to rename your mod stating it's mostly Rogue Spear sounds
- ask you to split your mod in separate packages (like voices only, musics only, SFX, weaps etc.)
- ask you ... uh something else I don't know yet? lol
I don't wanna upload my mod since it's so close to yours man and I don't wanna steal your publicity either. I'm stuck :p
Made a video recently using my own mod. My mod is 270Mb large. Contact me so I can give you everything if interested
You did us hardcore R6 fans a real favour here. Thanks mate!
Apologiez for not yet fixing the problem, my system died a terrible death of "i have to reboot every few minutes for no reason!" so i had to get new hardware and now installed Windows again. I still have to perform a ton of backups and reinstall thingies... don't expect anything to happen here the next few days - but I will attend the button-click annoyance and eyes 'n ears as soon as my system is up and running again.
On a side note, I am super happy that so many folks enjoy this mod, it is great payback for all the work! :)
Anyway, I *love* the mod! Really brings out the nostalgia. I made a R6 operators mod to make the Rainbow Six experience complete. Only thing missing now is starting the game with saying "The year is 1999..." :-)
Another small gripe: the saying "eyes and ears" is meant to be a warning call before tossing a flashbang, not an "I see bad buys" call.
Otherwise I LOVE this mod. I've had the music stuck in my head for days now. Such good memories, and this is brilliently excecuted. It's my favorite mod for this game by far.
thanks for the feedback.
I already changed it for the next release, so the hover sound is gone - it was never like this in the R6 games anyways. I simply overlooked it.
Will upload the update soon. Today or tomorrow! :)
other than that this mod is amazing.
