Wow, I just had an idea for a shield like this while discussing it a few days earlier. Nice to see someone thought of something similar and had the capability to make it happen.

shields dont work for me at all on large or small grids. all blocks remain red when placed on both grids despite having an infinite power generator to test them with.

Glad to see a modern equivalent to Cython's honorable but dated Energy Shields mod next to the weird Defense Shields mod which for some braindead reason has this mechanic of magically spiriting away tediously charged SP whenever some generator, reactor, or battery is turned off even though the SP aren't even "stored" in those blocks …
Also, while the ship and weapons are non-public, would the thruster effect mod be so, too? If not, which one, and, if applicable, which config, would it be, please?

Also yes you can @Onewiththedead in fact you can stack it with defense shields, deflector shields, and energy shields all at once if your ship has the power. Though might be a bit buggy.

Any chance you can make it so the alternative shield curve block can be adjusted by the player, though the higher the base resistence the faster it drops? I have a light armor ship i want to have 90% resistence by default with even if it means resistence depletes faster than the default 60%.

Ramming?I still think a swarm of grinder drones is far more evil. Better yet, ram and then deploy the grinder drones inside the hole you made.

hm in short heavy armor will do its job with this active. EATING HELL with out issue for a time.

@Foamy actually this shield is more like an "armor enhancement", not an ellipsoid shield. So there's no "pass through problems"
also because it's basically armor enhancement, it cannot do damage to grids(unless you directly crash something onto it)

Can this be used for stations and also does it affect other girds attaching to the main grid? For example. A ship docking onto a station? Will there be any issues with that? For example, ship docking is unable to dock due to shield being in place, docking ship takes damage while trying to connect to a connector or merge block. Does the mod allow debris to pass through the shield where as the defense shield does not unless it is a friendly or you have allowed neutrals to pass through? Sorry for all the questions.

I would think you'd have to somehow edit the NPC ship blueprints to have them spawn with these shield blocks. No different than adding unique weapon mods and expecting NPCs to have them too.

The fact that this works with weaponcore but does not require it is impressive and convenient. Is it impacted by a WC weapon's shield damage multiplier?
