so the light needs to be turned on. Then press 0 on your numpad to start then press 4 to go. to slow down press . with the del below its right next to your 0 key and it looks like this .

If the light in the cockpit lights up and pressing the keys does nothing, your numpad is most likely turned off ( 2nd point of important information)

If you don't have a numpad, use the alt controls.
