Thank you. Maybe we need to wait until AI can translate a bunch of texts for free. google translate is so limited XD.

Alright so the people want a French and a Spanish edition already. Uh oh. That would be about 20000 strings of localisation. Let me put it this way: not very soon. I intend to finish the English original first. Fortunately, I think I am nearing that point. Unfortunately, I fear to imagine how I am going to translate it all. 😅

Such an appealing idea, I will perhaps set up an account the moment I am not as busy.

Bowmen being called infantry is accurate, the Egyptians viewed the bow as the standard weapon just like the Greeks thought that a ‘warrior’ was a person wielding a spear. Nile valley bow units being referred to simply as ‘infantry’ is part of the authenticity.

I’m being deployed somewhere Amun knowns where again so the next update is at least a month away.
Khnum 30 Sep, 2024 @ 5:50pm
Oh and the revert back to english on the nubian and kushite units are all mixed up with bowmen being called infantry and so on

Alternatively, the broader Mesopotamian region and its cultures could be Kiengi (or Kengir?), the Sumerian term for the area, and the Mesopotamian cultures Kiengir(a?), which would make some sense as Sumerian was used like Latin in scholarly and religious circles well into the iron age.

Would it be possible to rename Egypt and Mesopotamia and their cultures to a more accurate translation/interpretation?

The former I know should be Kemet (and the Egyptian culture possibly Remenkimi), but I'm less certain on a Mesopotamian name.

Birit Narim is the Akkadian term that the Greek "Mesopotamia" was derived from (between rivers), but maybe there's something more accurate, and it might not be truthful to describe both Assyrian and Babylonian as alike.

And sorry just seen your discussion about a seperate egyptian unit name part of the mod would appreciiate it! I also would like to paypal you for this work
Khnum 27 Sep, 2024 @ 10:43pm
The cities and provinces are still working fine
Khnum 27 Sep, 2024 @ 10:42pm
But the egyptian unit names are not showing up anymore
Khnum 27 Sep, 2024 @ 10:41pm
So i just confirmed with this that its messing up unit names back to base game and mixing up unit names and with it off goes back to normal base game names
Khnum 27 Sep, 2024 @ 9:31pm
hello did the unit names get changed back to the base game? not showing up on mine
Esoteric knowledge enjoyer 23 Sep, 2024 @ 12:25pm

Going to come back to this mod after a couple of go throughs of vanilla, right now its too hard to know what things do.

They are a tough nut. They are out of place because it is too early for them as far as historical record is concerned, but we also know Priam assisted Mygdonians in a war against Amazons, with the in-game Cimmerians, on the one hand, neatly filling that role, but on the other not filling it at all because they lack female characters completely. The closest attested candidate to rename them to – the Kaska – are an unrelated ethnicity in the game. A simple rename is not enough to address the Cimmerian issue. The best I can do is give them their reconstructed Old Iranic name which would do little to improve the plausibility of what is going on with them in the game.
Matthew39 24 Aug, 2024 @ 5:30am
So far so good! Really glad someone is making extensive rename mod, I mean even bigger than ones already available.

Are there any plans to rename Cimmerians and their units? Probably the most jarring ahistorical thing in the game right now.
Hori  [author] 22 Aug, 2024 @ 9:13am
Me as well, the current obstacle is me being deployed in conditions that don’t allow development.
Mephet'ran 21 Aug, 2024 @ 6:11pm
Mod looks awesome, hope to see it continue being supported.
BiggerLonger&UncutGigolo 19 Aug, 2024 @ 11:13pm
Foreseeable future why?
Hori  [author] 14 Aug, 2024 @ 12:11pm
I cannot because I am really short on time at the moment, but to give you a general idea, Renu maʽa renames almost everything in the original gameplay area of Pharaoh, from realms down to every single province and every settlement in every province, along with most sea regions and most landmarks; all Egyptian and some Canaanite and Hittite units are affected; the only things left unchanged are a couple places that were already alright or I just missed and that are up next. For the Dynasties content, it renames most of the Aegean and two or three realms, several factions, provinces, sea regions, and units in Mesopotamia.

I do not know how compatible it is with works of other users and cannot afford to check, but, all of my corrections are stored in a completely new file that is loaded on top of the game and on top of any potential new text added by any and every other mod, so in theory it is compatible with any and every mod that does not literally change the very same strings.
PonuryWojtek 14 Aug, 2024 @ 9:01am
Just out of curiosity, can you also provide a full list of changes you have made? I mostly want to see how compatible it is with Historical Rename mod.
Andrajoso 12 Aug, 2024 @ 3:05am
Dude, I've always missed some immersive, anthropological approach specially to this title's modding. Love it.
Gunny555 9 Aug, 2024 @ 11:17am
Good job, did not expect anyone to make something very Egyptian with the names and hieroglyphics.
GreyWolf 9 Aug, 2024 @ 8:59am
There's probably less than 100 guys in the world who can tell the difference lol. But nicely done.
Khnum 9 Aug, 2024 @ 7:09am
Holy this is nice and proper!
PandaDogxD 8 Aug, 2024 @ 11:45pm
