If you wanted to make it compatible with the better SCAR mod, all you'd have to do is the same thing in its mod files, then load that mod instead of the Better SCAR.

Okay so having done some research, the burst fire is hardcoded and all this mod does is swap the names of the two scripts so that the M16 is weapon_rifle_desert and the SCAR is weapon_rifle.

It doesn't work for the SCAR because the SCAR is a special dainty boy so you still need a mod to make it fire one bullet at a time, but then it does work with the scar.

I have a simple config script that lets you swap between semi, burst and full auto at will. Only problem is, the game uses the attack command to perform certain actions so you also have to bind a secondary use key to heal.

no I know where the scripts and folders are, I just want to know where exactly in the script files themselves how to change the burst or automatic modes. i want to make the Better Scar addon compatible with this, so i was thinking of taking the parts of the script from this addon and putting it in the Better Scar mod

the folder location for it is; scripts, which are .txt files labeled as weapon_rifle_desert.txt and weapon_rifle.txt.

Basically made the Scar a lot more like the vanilla M16 in damage and mag size and did the same for the M16 to make it more like the vanilla Scar.

yeah, this is relatively a really old script by ilshat. i'm not really surprised considering some of his stuff back then, were notable to be very buggy. same goes for the giant tank and other stuff he scripted, and in my opinion, he did better job doing vscripts than in august of 2024.

speaking about this, yes, the whole model reflects and jumps sideways like crazy. so it is only a single player script, i think on local scripts it may be a total mayhem.

Regardless of the bugs, it's a pretty good script.

It's a great mod for those who are looking for a more realistic version of the SCAR, because it's said that the SCAR doesn't have a three-shot mode, and the M16A2 doesn't have a full-auto mode. And this mod solves it perfectly.

However, once you install this mod, then you go to any three-way server, or someone else goes into your local server. Once you take the two rifles involved in this mod, and as soon as you fire them, the model will repeatedly jump sideways between the M16 and the SCAR. Blink your eyes .....

Fails to work, no matter if I load a map via console, start a singleplayer campaign, or starting a local server. There are no conflicting addons.

@SaveScorn You have to extract the pak01_dir.vpk file located in left4dead2 folder. Use GFCScape to be able to access .vpk itself, inside there, you will find a folder called scripts. There's all the scripts where you can make your own.

@SaveScorn Make sure it's deleted in the workshop folder as well. Sometimes mods there save themselves that way as well.

@ObsidianFox It may be other script that's also conflicting. Test again without other addons and check slowly if there's any other addon conflicting.

This isn't really useless but it feels like the intent of this mod is mainly for using mods that change the models of these weapons isn't it?
Like there's probably a ton of weapons model swaps that look cool with burst fire or automatic but are on the m16 and SCAR respectivvely
