At present, the gravity setting only goes up to 2 so not sure how may changes have been made since this was created but I found that increasing the mass of the balls to 100+ got the desired effect.

I tried setting the gravity multiplier from 18 and below and it's still too hard for me to throw the balls. There should be an easier way to do this such as flicking the ball instead (which I wouldn't do since it would probably be cheating).

For anyone having trouble with this, check on "Options -> Options" if the "Physics" is "Full" before tampering with pieces weight and all that jazz

The pins don't move for me either. I tried lowering the global gravity, lowering the pin mass, and increasing the ball mass.

If you're having a problem with knocking down the pins, it's because the bowling balls weigh less than the pins. Highlight as many balls as you can, right click, go to physics, and change the mass to 3. It worked for me.

Answers to your questions:
Gravity setting should be 0.18 (not 18!) or 0.10 - 0.15 - as you like it.
As written in the mod-how to play: Don't roll the ball - throw it to knock over the pins.
Maybe I make some changes, when the flick-tool will be implemented in TT-Simulator

@Festive Lily: Imho the position of the lootbags is ok and I don't want to change it.
But you can easily unlock(Key 'L') and reposition the bags in your game

Aaaaaaaaare You sure we should set the gravity to 18 (I'm assumning that's 0.18) or 10-15 ? I've tried all three but I just can't knock any of the damn pins down.
Weeeird. But hey, other than that, it's really well made.
Anyway, could You put the little pouches next to the corresponding lane instead of just grouping them together ?
