@Airplayn None of my mods change any equipment or their upgrades. Have you checked the dates at which upgrades become available?
Airplayn 22 Dec, 2024 @ 7:09pm
I hate this! Even with a normal load of enough AA you can shoot down a lot of aircraft. Between! the AA in the 88mm gun with AA and the 20mm I shot down a Spit, two swordfish and two Sunderland IN ONE TRIP!! I even capture the Spit pilot, I have a pix of rescuing him from his sinking plane. And that's with the single 20mm What i could do with the quad AA I don't know because my upgrades won't unlock for some reason. Anyone know which mod may cause that problem?

Damnit! Why didn't I notice that? Thank you andargor :-)

@KeybdFlyer The current version is 2024.1.22.34 (see description, I update on release)

Sorry for the delay in replying. Yes, your fix hasn't worked for me. I get the alarm, but the engines do not go to flank nor does a crash dive occur. Below are all the lines in output_log.txt that contain "UBOATSOP". I hope that helps you to figure-out why it isn't working for me - I haven't a clue, lol!

@KeybdFlyer Also, there are some extra debug messages ib the output log (see Debugging in the description above). Look for all the lines that include UBOATSOP_AircraftCrashDive and some of them are the condition check to initiate a dive or not.
andargor  [author] 9 Dec, 2024 @ 6:47am
@KeybdFlyer Can you explain? My fix didn't work for you? Can you describe the exact situation, in my testing the fix worked.
KeybdFlyer 9 Dec, 2024 @ 6:27am
So I've resorted to "hit pause, select crash dive" mode. Really hope you find a way to get it working properly again!
KeybdFlyer 2 Dec, 2024 @ 8:29pm
That's great to hear! My patrol is currently up in the North Sea to the east of Scotland, so with any luck I'll be spotted by an aircraft if I stay surfaced. Thanks for all your work "andargor"!
andargor  [author] 2 Dec, 2024 @ 12:43pm
UPDATE: Game patch made alarm start before crash dive check (which then failed), new alarm state detection implemented to mitigate, crash dive is initiated only on alarm triggered by new aircraft sightings.

If you wish to fight the aircraft, go manually to Alarm state as soon as it is spotted. If the crash dive was already initiated, just cancel it by setting depth to surface.
andargor  [author] 2 Dec, 2024 @ 11:38am
@KeybdFlyer Bug confirmed, it's been introduced by one of the patches that changed the event order so that by the time the crash dive check comes around, the boat is always on Alarm. Trying to fix, but it's tricky. Update forthcoming once I have a solution.
KeybdFlyer 2 Dec, 2024 @ 8:23am
I'm still getting no crash-dive when an aircraft is spotted even though there is no existing alarm state. I can't think what other mod could be possibly conflicting so can't check for that. The output_log has the appropriate UBOATSOP line, so I'm at a loss. All the other SOP mods are really useful and work fine, keeping my fingers crossed that this one comes right for me too.

Could you perhaps add a condition:
- AA-gun not manned?

I mean, I can think of scenarios where I would prefer to stay and fight. For example, if I have an awayteam ashore/boarding, or I am approaching a harbour etc. In those cases I would man the aa-gun to be prepared, so diving would just mess things up.

Just wanted to add that I tested the fix you made earlier and it been working fine. No false dives and in general behaved rather nicely so far. Thanx for your work on this.
andargor  [author] 6 Sep, 2024 @ 12:50pm
UPDATE: As discussed, I have added a condition that there will be no crash dive if the ship is already at Alarm status. This reflects that if the boat is already at alarm, it is engaged in a critical situation and automation is undesirable since it could be catastrophic when unexpected.

I'd guess sometimes the aircraft path is more advantageous for the them to discover the boat than you discover and classify the aircraft. That's the deviation but also accurate imo, a garantueed crashdive on first sight like it was before trigger friendly forces aswell so that makes spotting very limited. On the other Hand I discovered an Air Raid taking place and the crashdive definitely saved me compared to a single strangler. Also Career Progression should help you with the better traits but more frequent and deadlier encounters later in the war makes that also very risky.

Nope, My Bad, it works. Just played two games where I sighted aircraft and both times I crash dived. Cool Mod.
andargor  [author] 5 Sep, 2024 @ 7:55pm
@photog297 I'm getting both kinds of comments :), it either works too well or not at all. Are all the conditions in the description fulfilled? Is the mod enabled and loading (check %USERPROFILE%\AppData\LocalLow\Deep Water Studio\UBOAT\output_log.txt for a message near the beginning that says something like UBOATSOP_AircraftCrashDive Version 2024.1.12.20)
photog297 5 Sep, 2024 @ 5:09pm
I like all of your mods but I am not sure if this one is actually working? I spotted an aircraft the other day and my boat went to alarm but didnt even attempt to dive :(
andargor  [author] 4 Sep, 2024 @ 7:23am
@(v)1GHTY )v(4V$ That is a lot of things to check, which I am unsure how to do. As I indicated to others, the dive can be cancelled by hitting the surface button and will not occur again for the same contact (unless you lose it and reacquire)

I had suggested a simple compromise: I can add a condition that the ship will not crash dive if it is alarmed. Personally, and this is reflected in most of my mods, I like to have manual control of things under alarm conditions.

Can you check if your U-Boat is damaged (water leaks through hull damage) and you don't have enough parts anymore for a deep dive to do a periscope depth instead, or maybe have an Air Defense SOP for certain conditions or AA Types like the C41 with all the Guns manned instead of dive depending on number of planes, I've had tested an encounter where I did get substantial damage from a Destroyer but shot it down with the 88 and needed all the repair parts but still had leaks that I could not close but could manage around a certain level but the deep dive from the aircraft evasion put the boat to much under water so the pressure was too much for the pump to handle (with the realistic pumps).
joeysaleri 2 Sep, 2024 @ 7:29pm
thank you for this mod, will be subscribing to this and the others. i respectfully request an SOP mod for running the PUMP under various conditions, especially after hydrophone check. I feel the crew (in the base game at least) should run the pump when not in alarm status and the boat has 4m of water in it.
andargor  [author] 2 Sep, 2024 @ 7:17pm
@Antonio Accardo There are no dependencies, all my mods can be used standalone. I have no idea why it is not working for you. Can you check in %USERPROFILE%\AppData\LocalLow\Deep Water Studio\UBOAT\output_log.txt that the mod is running, you should see a line like this:

UBOATSOP_AircraftCrashDive Version 2024.1.12.20

If you don't , then the mod is not running or enabled.
Antonio Accardo 2 Sep, 2024 @ 1:50pm
Is there a dependency for this? I have it installed and enabled, but I kept waiting for a crash dive and by the time I mashed the button manually, it was too late and I got annihilated.
Helshad 1 Sep, 2024 @ 7:51pm
I think one of my mods have friendly aircrafts.. Ju87s that fly over Wilhelmshaven and last nigth I noticed them due to this mod ^^ I´ll test the updated one later when I get time to play
andargor  [author] 1 Sep, 2024 @ 4:32pm
Well, I haven't seen friendly aircraft yet :))) Thanks for testing, just fixed it with an extra check, only enemy aircraft will trigger the dive.
Helshad 1 Sep, 2024 @ 11:41am
Works but a bit to good... it also fires when your in harbour (friendly) and stress the crew and while leaving harbour and aircraft is nearby they emergency dive...
andargor  [author] 1 Sep, 2024 @ 11:29am
I didn't mess with the UI, although I'll try to think of a solution. Maybe if the alarm were triggered manually, it would not crash dive?

Currently, you can just cancel the dive by hitting the surface button, the trigger is the moment when an aircraft is spotted, shouldn't dive again unless you lose it and it comes back.
AugustsEve 1 Sep, 2024 @ 10:01am
Would there by any way to add a toggle for this? In some cases we may want to fight the aircraft instead of diving, not many granted, but the option to do it without diving would be good.
