Does this work for models from games the host has mounted, but not players joining? Didn't seem to work for my friend who didn't have HL2 + Episodes installed when we went to a map using content from there.

to the guy below, AFAIK (from reading the desc) it asks the server to literally construct a mesh from the model (which is on the server but not the client (so not on your pc)) and then sends that constructed mesh to the client (you, a player) so you have SOMETHING...

it should take as little bandwidth as it can. i can try decreasing it even more by implementing databuffer from my camcoder addon in this one, compressing and decompressing data as needed, but i don't think it would make much difference.
as of what meshes get networked - it's physmeshes, which are usually automatically generated and have low amount of polygons to optimise for physics.

basically the high poly part by that i mean simple shapes are easier to recreate while stuff like spheres are going to have some kinda football effect shown in the previews

from my estimation low amount of bandwith since uh it only takes a rough estimation of the model so dont expect high quality super giga high poly models with 4k ultra hd super duper high resolution textures with it

wolfee0507 is right, it works like an addon share but for models so you can see what model roughly looks like. it should work for any entity that is rendered using model set by SetModel call (basically all good entities)
