@tokumeiko has a point, @Gikgik.

PS Are you looking at updating this mod soon? A lot of the mods seem to be broken since the newest update to the game.
tokumeiko 7 Jan, 2018 @ 3:56am
@Gikgik actualy most deskjobs are easy to automate, and it won't be too long before the main source of employment is creative work, getting artificial intelligence to write a script tends to have weird results.
Gikgik  [author] 8 Aug, 2017 @ 2:20am
With a high degree of automation, most physical tasks are done by machines, and people are left with comfortable desk jobs, making them obese.

Unions dislike driverless cars because they are perceived to steal jobs from professional drivers.
Starfoth The Burgundy Silk Rug 7 Aug, 2017 @ 8:45pm
I have a few constructive criticisms:

About the obesity from Industrial Automation; I think that is kind of strange tbh
Especially since it still happens even if I have virtually no unemployment. I think you're trying to simulate people eating and not working? But that doesn't make sense if they ARE working, there are just different, menial jobs being taken by machines.

About the driverless cars pissing off trade unions. Why?
2000wires 5 Oct, 2016 @ 11:23am
How do i remove the Rare earth Crisis?
Gikgik  [author] 12 Sep, 2015 @ 3:51pm
The point is that higher Industrial Automation levels decrease food prices, but increases obesity. Will probably remove this in the next update.
Mr. Crabmilk (Magnus) 12 Sep, 2015 @ 9:22am
When i play with this mod, the Industrial Automation seems to increase food prices and decreases obesity. I play as USA and I have a technological advantage. I think it's very strange. Have any of you experienced this?
Gikgik  [author] 23 Feb, 2015 @ 9:47pm
There is a mod that eliminates the annual increase of rare earth crisis.

In this mod, Recycling slightly decreases the rare earth crisis.
Dioblackironoyster 18 Jan, 2015 @ 2:52pm
What about rare earth crisis? In very late year simulation it gets impossible to deal with it, maybe making foreign trade reduce it a little, reducing just a little the effect of technology and year and maybe adding a "free trade agreement" policy in the foreign relations tab...
jaredmoreno706 8 Jan, 2015 @ 12:00am
fast
jaredmoreno706 8 Jan, 2015 @ 12:00am
yeah so i cant you this mode then and thanks for responding ast
Gikgik  [author] 7 Jan, 2015 @ 11:57pm
Do you use Windows 8? There seems to be some conflicts.
jaredmoreno706 7 Jan, 2015 @ 11:56pm
cashes my game anyone know how to fix
lammi.viljam 4 Jan, 2015 @ 5:07am
You have just made a bit wiser, thanks :)! Btw, why are there even luddite riots in the first place? Should not the factories be properly guarded to stop an angry mob? Perhaps investing in the police force+armed police should decrease the riots strength, eventually quelling it? I would not rush towards a barricade of riot police wearing submachineguns (if you max out police armament and its size)...

This throws game balance out of the window, but some of these events seem a bit silly... balance before realism seems to be the rule when designing simulators like this :/
Gikgik  [author] 3 Jan, 2015 @ 4:11pm
For gameplay reasons, it provides balance. Luddite Riots are not enough for weighing up the advantage of Industrial Automation.

When it comes to realism, energy consumption has historically increased with automation. In general, larger machines need more energy.

Of course people consume energy for their everyday needs; but the human population is presumed to be constant, and human people consume food and other goods whether they work in factories, work in the service sector, or are unemployed.
lammi.viljam 3 Jan, 2015 @ 8:00am
Could someone please explain why industrial automation decreases energy efficiency? How can a robot that makes for example cars super quickly be more environmentally destructive than a bunch of human workers who have need food, warmth, having a break every now and in addition they need to use more time and energy to do something the robot does in five seconds?

Should not automation increase energy efficiency? I am not a physicist, so I do not have any statistics, but it seems a bit counterintuitive to me. Thanks in advance for answering, I am just curious :)

game crash because miss mars program, solution?
Stryderunknown 29 Nov, 2014 @ 9:38am
I'm not currently using your mod, but in tthe Vanilla I've found a bug where the LudditeRiots occur even if you have 0% unemployment. (who's rioting about the loss of their jobs?) I guess it could be down to people having reduced wages due to automation, however that mean's it's description would need editing. I thought I would mention it since your balance mod might suffer the same issues.
Charles Hampton Indigo 29 Nov, 2014 @ 12:14am
@Gikgik. In 1.03, you updated it so that electric cars policy would increase car use. The reason, from what I can tell, that it wasn't that way to begin with, is that car use directly increases CO2 emissions, which is obviously not a direct effect of _electric_ cars. I'd reverse the change, otherwise you'd have to fiddle directly with core vanilla values to make the balance work as intended.
GreatWyrmGold 28 Nov, 2014 @ 1:16pm
I don't.
Gikgik  [author] 28 Nov, 2014 @ 2:05am
Do you use other mods?
Aloden 27 Nov, 2014 @ 9:38pm
The mod seems to crash the game when a load or start a new one
GreatWyrmGold 7 Nov, 2014 @ 7:02pm
It seems to be causing crashes whenever I try to load a game or start a new one.
DiogoTheCoder 3 Nov, 2014 @ 2:19pm
Good Changes

SilentDeath 2 Nov, 2014 @ 11:34am
great
Domehead 31 Oct, 2014 @ 11:55pm
@Gikgik Could you make them more powerful? Because these measures are thuroughly overwhelmed late game.
Gikgik  [author] 31 Oct, 2014 @ 3:25pm
@TheDapperDragon: Thanks for the suggestion, but it seems like the Green Electronics Initiative already does that.

My intention is to keep this mod as simple as possible, with no new policies.
Domehead 31 Oct, 2014 @ 9:13am
Can you introduce a rare earth phase out program that decreases rare earth usage and "solves" the rare earth crisis problem. Perhaps you could say that all chips have to be carbon nanotube based or some other non-metal based.
Guidrion 30 Oct, 2014 @ 1:14pm
I agree. After all, luddism was historically a movement of social anger rather than hatred of machines.
HansTheHuman 29 Oct, 2014 @ 1:08am
A fair and appropriate rebalance. I'd like to suggest having high low earnings reduce luddite riots and a larger effect from unemployment, as currently luddite riots seem unavoidable when there is high automation even when the problems with such are mitigated.
