I've no idea if that's possible, but it could be a possibly easier way to spice up forts. Either that, or have different materials produce different sprites, instead of simply changing the colour. Sort of like in Minecraft, where every wood creates a different-looking door.
A number of your graphic raws, all the ones associated with "LEFTOVERS" and "MACHINE_TOOLS" are all throwing errors about unrecognized tokens as well, but I haven't taken the time to track down why just yet.
@Billy that's exactly why i made my fences addition to niemst's mod. i'll add your hit with forbidding objects on display to my mod description as well. it just makes filling a long row with fences sooooo much easier ;)
@Billy thank you. I let myself to add your insight to mod description - I hope you don't mind. BTW You may be interested in subscribing Ben mod I just linked in section Related Mods
love those additions to our dwarven homes. makes it feel much more alive..
i made a little patch mod off of this that makes fences work like the boards you made here with new graphics and all possible intersections so the little dwarves can fence off their pastures and have little balconies with metal railings.
would you want to incorporate it in to this mod our shell i release with this as a dependency?
anyway
thx for all this neat mods man
sweet my dwarf burrows will now feel more dwarf-y tyty
Sorry I didn't have time to do the tables yet. I will some day I hope.
That said those will still not be used as tables, just could look similar to them
As you wished - I just added it within the version 1.13
I'm playing with most of my mods on so hard to say what is the issue for you. do you have the newest version? Do you have any info in logs files pointing to what is the reason?
@Ore: the moding game engine do not support that - all things are just for estetics.
I haven't been playing DF, but came around just to check if you had new mods :D
Delighted to see you went above and beyond with the suggestion for more decorations! Looks amazing, and excited for what you'll add next! (My small suggestion: dwarves really need big horizontal kegs, and stacks of them! hehe)
Read you plan to eventually add extra tools to the production chain - you have another supporter! It's something I've wanted to see for a while. Would add a layer of realism and progression to DF, which it lacks a bit beyond getting better metals. I hope it works out!
Thank you for bringing such life and character to DF! I'll for sure use your mods when I boot it up again :) Cheers!
PS: To add to Business Cat's idea for lights, lamps & torches, Lord of the Rings Online's Moria has some beautiful braziers, where instead of fire, the dwarves use luminescent crystals/precious stones. Could be a small extra twist of fantasy!
Short answer is yes, they are just estetics.
In more details: for the game engine all are tools. Where it make seans I added properties like capacity or tool use. Ufortunetly I have not seen any of thoes be used during my tests.
On a side note though, ive seen that youve made a handful of mods, and they're all really interesting! Keep up the good work!
@Business Cat: I'm aware of approach with workshops like it is done for Decoration - vanity buildings unfortunately till DF modding is not allowing to group buildings I think it brings more issues then the gain.
Thanks for ideas. I will try to add at least some of them but hard to say when.
As i'm not a graphic artist, If you have time and will please feel welcome to provide the sprites (32x32px) that you would like to have/see. I will try incorporate them in the mod.
* One thing I had seen a previous mod try was using workshops themselves as ways to create larger furniture item graphics, as I believe workshops can occupy more tiles than a furniture item does. There's obviously drawbacks to this, as they have to be built via the workshop menu rather than within a workshop. They seemed to have used the idea to create items like street lamps that graphically occupied two squares (but the upper portions could overlap existing structures such as walls), and were able to put graphical items like picture frames up onto existing solid walls. Unfortunately the mod rarely loaded into my games for some reason. You might potentially be able to use something like this mixed with your own method to allow for some graphical furniture items that occupied multiple squares? Just a thought!
As for items I'd like to see (obviously only suggestions!):
- Sink / Stove
- An actual bar! Essentially, a selection of table sprites that can link together to make a continuous table top. 4 Corner sections, so you could build up to a 4 sided bar, and then vertical and horizontal table sections that slotted between them. These'd be great for both building bars and shop counter tops.
- Kegs!
-Things that can hang on walls! Picture frames, banners, clocks, torch sconces, etc. I'm not sure if this can be done via your current tool item method as they'd need to graphically sit atop occupied solid walls spaces, but maybe using this other method*. Otherwise most of these could be displayed as items that sat mounted atop something else like easels to hold picture frames, floor torches, grandfather clock, etc.
- Street signs and street lamps.
