Tier 5 Growth

All good, got nothing to apologize for!
I mean, Norsca's also horrible outdated and I imagine they will get Tier 5 ports of their own once they eventually get an update, unless CA continues treating them similarly to the Ogres and Wood Elves...And yeah, sounds like a good compromise! Personally I don't think that would even be needed, was moreso the fact that you start with so many ports and it severely hindered your growth if you leveled minor settlements first. I'll try it out and keep my eyes open for other outliers, thank you for your work!

Agh yep you're right, I had the mod disabled while testing! Rookie mistake, sorry.

Norsca are an interesting one since they don't have a T5 port to update, but it doesn't seem fair to exclude them outright. I've added one back in, with factionwide growth but otherwise the same stats to their current ports (no additional income or casuality replenishment beyond what they already get at T3), but cheap and quick to build. Hopefully that feels like a good middle ground, let me know what you think!

...Nope, still the same in a new campaign. Maybe it's just the tooltip and the effect applies as intended? I can't say for certain, but once again it states that the Tier 3 Raiding Port at the Monolith of Flesh would provide +5 Growth factionwide if it was built.

Have just taken the liberty of loading the old campaign that I encountered this in. Could very well be a mod conflict, but I wouldn't know which mod that would be. Don't think I have any others that afflict Growth like this...And yes, at it turns out the building chain seems to be called the same thing for major and minor settlements. According to the tooltip, the Tier 3 building "Raiding Port" provides +5 Growth factionwide. Norsca doesn't have access to regular Tier 5 ports outside of landmark ones. I will start a new campaign and see if this persists.

Hey, just wanna say thank you: great mod! I had a similar idea and searched for it and here it is. Great addition to any mod regarding buildings (which I develop mostly).
So thank you and cheers!

Hi, I just had a look and it looks like T1/2/3 ports in Wulfrik and Throgg's starting provinces are providing +10/20/30 local growth, as expected? Can't replicate what you're seeing. If it was a bug in an earlier version looks like it must have been fixed already!

I may have found another oversight, namely ports for Norsca in minor settlements. I'm not sure if the port chain is named the same thing in major settlements, but they provide +5 Growth at Tier 3 in places like Winter Pyre or the Monolith of Flesh in Throgg's starting province. I assume this to be the case elsewhere too. Might just be the tooltip, I'm not entirely sure right now as I didn't pay too much attention to it while playing. Hope this helps!

Thanks for the heads up, fixed - also spotted a Tzeentch building in the same situation while I was there, just in time for 6.1

I'd like to report another oversight! Think this might be the one I forgot last time: Generic Tier 5 ports for Khorne, "Eye of Terror". Only provides +5 Growth instead of the intended bonus. I've just conquered Alberic's starting settlement of Bregonne in my newest campaign and noticed it there. Of course I can't even build a Tier 5 port there, but one would assume that this issue persists elsewhere. Hope this helps, love the mod!

No worries! Think I found another one in the meantime, but I forgot where and what it was. I'll keep an eye out!

@Stale Memes whoops yeah I missed that one! Fixed now. Thanks for the spot.

I may have found a bug, though this could of course be an inconsistency with the loads of other mods I use: The daemonic settlement chain for Khorne (Dimensional Cascade) seems to be missing the faction-wide / adjacent provinces flag and instead only gets +5 Growth locally at Tier V as opposed to the mortal one that provides the intended +10 to adjacent provinces.

What an interesting and more balanced approach! Thank you for continued updates <3|

So far in my testing, it seems like the Major/capital settlements work just fine, but none of the growth chains in either major nor minor settlement seem different? It feels nicely balanced as such to my eye. Thank you again!

@Stale & @Guvenoren, fair enough, I've updated T5 settlements to provide adjacent growth instead, while T5 ports retain factionwide - with the exception of Wood Elf settlements (who have Deeproots and their T5 settlements are usually isolated) and Galleon's Graveyard (which has no adjacent settlements and sort of counts as a double port for Vampire Coast, I think), which stay factionwide.

Let me know how it feels now!

This is a cool idea. Wish there was a bit more complexity to certain mechanics like growth, like some of the earlier games had (cant think of an example as i havent played them in like 2 decades).

Smart
Guvenoren 15 Nov, 2024 @ 7:12am
I support only supporting adjacent provinces and not global.
Guvenoren 15 Nov, 2024 @ 7:12am
No longer need growth? Hmm, I think it's not useless. If you have a high tier major settlement you can use that growth to supply minor settlements in the process. But it is an interpretation. I don't hate it I guess. Why not
Stale Memes 15 Nov, 2024 @ 4:14am
This is something I've posted on the forums about before and still hope will become a baseline feature eventually. Does it completely replace the other instances of Growth in the building chain (so for instance 20+30+40+50+10) or are the previous Growth bonuses maintained while only the last one becomes a faction-wide bonus? Perhaps changing it to affect only neighbouring owned or allied provinces might be a better idea but the faction-wide bonuses could be maintained for these large landmark ports.
raejin.omg  [author] 15 Nov, 2024 @ 2:12am
@Rustic, it depends on the mod - if they've reused vanilla tier 5 settlement buildings, yep this mod will affect it. If they've created entirely new ones for minor settlements, nope it will be left untouched. No harm in loading both and seeing what happens? Let us know if you do!

@Autumnchain, yeah there's definitely an edge case where a minor settlement gets sacked but your regional capital is still intact, where you might still want local growth. But even then you're likely to have a bunch of local surplus growth accumulated in the time between upgrading your capital port to tier 5 and losing your minor settlement, so I don't think in practice you'd ever actually lose out by having this mod enabled.
Autumnchain 13 Nov, 2024 @ 10:24am
I never found it weird. Though it is useless in most cases, it does mean that if the Provincial Capital remains intact, it can help the rebuilding efforts of the minor settlements around it.

Seems like a good way to transform a hardly useful stat into a useful one.
Nice idea.
Gonna definitely try this out!
Rustic "Kalessin" Citrus 12 Nov, 2024 @ 8:23am
So for instance a tier 5 extension for minor settlements might not work?
(mod im referencing for clarity: https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/workshop/filedetails/?id=3215614155 )

Glad you like it! It's a codeless table edit, so it only adjusts buildings already in the game. It won't change any new buildings added by a different mod.

It specifically looks for tier 5 growth buildings - so those fancy unique growth buildings in Kislev and Praag that go all the way up to tier 5 are changed by this mod, but a growth building in a minor settlement that caps out at tier 3 won't be affected, even after you get all your settlements in that region to tier 5/3/3/3.
Rustic "Kalessin" Citrus 10 Nov, 2024 @ 1:33pm
Oh this is exciting! Thank you for your hard-work and efforts making such an interesting mod <3 :WH3_clasp:

Would this affect any mods by chance? Or is it simply only looking for any growth in a local region, so even growth buildings will count? .... im a little confused around the specifics
