Can you add alarm SFX for when the Combine commence their raid on the Rebel safehouse?

Nice map!

But I will give one piece of advice, make the cover better, it looks unremarkable, which makes few people pay attention to it, thinking it's just another simple map, thus losing a very interesting experience

Bro, when's part eight? I'm really looking forward to the sequel, your maps are the best I've seen.
Maqsud101 6 Feb @ 6:04am
also anyone know how to enter extras?
Maqsud101 6 Feb @ 5:52am
can you make sandbox version for this underground arena part?

@jangwmpt7 I am running an 11th Gen i5, and a 4070. No performance issues, so it's definitely on your end. You can disable all addons from the menu, without deleting them. So if you don't want to do that, you will probably continue to experience issues.

I'm just throwing ideas out as I'm not too sure what else it could be, sorry.
jangwmpt7 28 Jan @ 8:53am
Also, I checked the task manager, and strangely, although my RAM was about 70-79% used while playing GMOD, my CPU and GPU was not even overloaded.
jangwmpt7 28 Jan @ 8:51am
@SNW I did load the maps manually, but it still did not improve performance. Besides, I am running on a x86-64 branch rather than the regular branch. Also, I would need a new account to test this map without any addons (but perhaps some SWEPs if I desire).
SNW  [author] 28 Jan @ 8:35am
@jangwmpt7 I had since briefly researched a possible cause for the error and the only reasonable result I had come across is that it is more than likely caused by an overloading issue, mostly due to a level transition automatically while in-game. Considering how detailed the maps are, it can be loading in too much information at once from one map to another. I'm no tech guy but I personally believe it depends more on your processor and not so much your GPU. I have had other people claim they have had fine experiences with specs lower than mine with no issues. I'd say try loading the specific map in manually through the menu screen if you haven't already or disable all or most addons if possible.

So, I attempted this map again since I got a new computer with an i9 and an RTX 4070. It still did not run much better, even with performance mods. Also, I found one of, if not, the primary causes of FPS drop, and it is a copious amount of PrecacheVars errors that has been spamming on the console, even when I pause the game, which slows it down. Right now, I would need a new account to run this map without addons (but at least some SWEPs I usually use).

@BRABUS Great news! Just a reminder to always test that, and check the description as the creator did mention that!
BRABUS 16 Jan @ 11:56pm
@Macrium It turns out that it was necessary to disable all addons for everything to work properly
Macrium™ 16 Jan @ 12:51pm
@brabus Probably something on your PC/Gmod. I ran on an i5 with a 5700XT and had great frames. Definitely on your end.

I remember playing the other lost maps in 2018 and seeing this was amazing. The quality is so much better. Cant wait for part 8

We got Lost Part 7 before GTA VI?!? For real though I oughta thank you for still continuing this series. It takes me back to playing those flatgrass maps when life was alot simpler. Except it was way better than that, like real valve level quality stuff. The underground city set-piece was beautiful and it even ran smooth on my antiquated GTX970 setup. I could keep gawking at it but I'll stop there.

Excited for Part 8, feel free to take another decade-ish if it's gonna be this good

Best Half-Life 2 since Half-Life 2. Excellent work

Been so long I was waiting for that map, I had the time to graduate middle school & highschool while waiting for it
nuclearspacebullet 14 Nov, 2024 @ 4:32pm
The mad lad actually did it.
holdmybeerjohnny 14 Nov, 2024 @ 2:35pm
this is super good. Like everything you have made is excellent
ZARTH THE WOLFITO 13 Nov, 2024 @ 6:19pm
YASSSSS ive been waiting for the part 7!
it was worth the wait
absoluty impressive!:wolf_swag:
take your time for the part 8!
jangwmpt7 13 Nov, 2024 @ 3:42pm
@SNW Yeah. The best I could do is wait until I get my hands on owning a more powerful computer before trying again.
SNW  [author] 13 Nov, 2024 @ 2:03pm
@jangwmpt7 Not quite sure what else the problem may be in that case. For one last idea if you hadn't already tried it, I'd say try verifying cache integrity of the game and see what happens afterwards. Sorry.

No way, you still alive? Jesus, i'm glad your finally make new part!:praisesun:
jangwmpt7 12 Nov, 2024 @ 10:12pm
@SNW I tried, still no luck. Also, I never modified the internal files of GMOD.
SNW  [author] 12 Nov, 2024 @ 9:58pm
Have you tried loading the map up from the main menu instead of through a level transition in the previous map for a quick test? I noticed you have some addons of your own in your workshop. Have you by chance modified any files within your root directory that could possibly override the game by default that a normal downloadable addon couldn't do? As for the frame rate, I have a 1660 Super myself, so average/very slightly above average setup. I do get a slight amount of fps drop here and there myself, though it's kept to a minimum as the maps were specifically designed and thoroughly optimized to increase the frame rate as much as possible. These maps were made in HL2 Episode 2 where it runs like butter whereas in Garry'smod, the engine seems to struggle slightly more, probably due to something in its code is my theory. There's not much else I can do on that aspect.
jangwmpt7 12 Nov, 2024 @ 8:59pm
I forgot to mention that I have explosion replacement mod, which replaced default HL2 explosions with MMOD explosions
jangwmpt7 12 Nov, 2024 @ 8:47pm
@SNW I do not use any addons that change NPC's AI or level transitions, although I am using .lua patcher. The only replacement/enhancement content I am using are citizen and Combine soldier model replacements.
jangwmpt7 12 Nov, 2024 @ 8:45pm
Also, I better hope that you have a top-of-the-line computer to run this map on, as it lagged a lot even though I am on a laptop running on Intel i7 and RTX 3060.
SNW  [author] 12 Nov, 2024 @ 8:22pm
The maps have been thoroughly tested by multiple people nor have any other comments so far addressed the strange issues you seem to have. Are you by chance using any addons that can alter npcs' ai, replace/enhance default content, change world brushes, change level transitions, etc?
jangwmpt7 12 Nov, 2024 @ 7:59pm
Other than these issues, there are so many errors I cannot describe. That is even though I mounted HL2 and its episodes.
jangwmpt7 12 Nov, 2024 @ 7:43pm
In the second map, when a citizen opens the door to the elevator, there is still an invisible wall that prevents me from proceeding to the elevator. Even if I( managed to make it to the elevator, I still cannot proceed as it does not go down (no matter which button I am supposed to press). I tried reloading the map again. Not only these issues did not change, but some of the stuff no longer renders properly.
Skully Graves 11 Nov, 2024 @ 10:02pm
Wow, that is the huge pack.

However, the gameplay itself, by my standards, remained classic, compared to previous maps, it looks good.

The level content itself is interesting.

The script moments are also great, especially knocking down doors and walls.

I especially liked the mapping itself on the first 2 maps where the settlement is shown, quite unusual and unique for the hl2 setting, but with something native.

At the moment of leaving the bunker, the fight with the helicopter is boring for me, but it is not worth criticizing this moment, because I myself would not have done this with my experience.

From all of the above, I got the same vibe as 2-3 years ago.
We will wait for the 8th chapter with impatience)

Can't wait for Lost Part 8 in 8 years
