Wow, thanks for all the info and the detailed descriptions! I also found the official modding tutorial on the net.

PS i forgot that if you use Windows 11 with onedrive enabled, you have to move prepared mod from roaming location to documents folder so the game can detect it and is possible to add it to your playset.

There used to be also available public official modding tutorial guiding people how to start modding the game, covering only basics to get familiar with tools where you can get know other useful informations.

when you left click on determiner of property, resource editor will give you some hints as what that thing does, but keep in mind that not everything has own description. After making desired changes you have to save your work in resource editor, then in package manager. I also want to warn you that pop up window that ask you to save changes when you want to close window of resource editor does nothing when you click confirmation so you have to always remember to save it before closing window so changes wont be lost.

You have to open mod first in package manager, then open with it the resource editor. Game content is stored inside ...\Age of Wonders 4\Content and this is where you gonna always go whether its to modify some simply stuff or look for a reference to make something new yourself, this is also a point where my detailed changelog.txt file comes in hand, telling you where to find certain rpk files, their properties and determiners you want to edit. Structure of rpk file inside is divided into categories, you have to find proper category and then look for property, the label i edited myself you want to modify should be hightlit with orange color.

I´ve done the first part. Now, where/how do I edit? Where do I see orange highlights? All I want are to change numbers to different values. Discord was not helpful, you can see my questions there in modding-questions, I use the same user name as here. Thank you so much for the help!

First you have to move mod from steam userdata to your documents, if you have windows 11 and onedrive enabled it will be a game folder in roaming (i dont remember exactly what it is). Just open package manager and click open to see the path to the folder where mods you want edit should be dropped. Once you moved my mod to proper place you have to yet to copy the name of .acp file inside mod's folder, come back and change numerical name to resemble the name of acp file without ".acp" extension. From now you can edit mod, all modified by me things should be highlit with orange color. I recommend you to join discord to get better guidance and anwsers for your questions.

How can I make simple edits to this mod? For example, I’d like to revert hero costs back to the vanilla values. I can see the file path mentioned in the changelog, and I’ve opened the mod in the Package Manager—but when I look through the Content Editor, Resource Editor, and Resource Browser, I can’t figure out where to actually edit this specific part of the mod. The changelog points to the path, but I’m not sure how that helps with making the edit. Any help?

I dont plan to make changes or add new features to this mod now and in the near future, just update if necessary to keep compatitbility with newest version of the game. I also dont want to make more variants of this mod.

Can you change the auto refreshing hero pool to 1 turn? It seems there is a random seed selected for hero creation and it does not update until the hero pool refreshes. What I think that means is if the seed doesnt spawn a certain trait or combination of traits it will never spawn that combination. I literally clicked the button several hundred times trying to get the combination I was looking for and noticed the same characters recycling through (even with the same names) and could never get the combination of traits I was looking for together on the same character. I'm hoping if you change the pool refresh to 1 turn it allows me to just wait a turn to get a new seed and start spamming the refresh until I get the combination I'm looking for or decide to just wait another turn. Thank you.

Great mod! Have you considered making a mod that unlocks the Dragon Lord's other equipment bars? (except mounts)
SkyPhoenixZ1  [author] 11 Dec, 2024 @ 11:26am
If your dragon lords started to look weird, i fixed it. They updated rpk file responsible for dragon lords, if you wondered why they lost suddenly their models, this was the culprit. I had to update tables affecting dragon lords from scratch so if there are unintended things, like i missed something or added wrong property please let me know. For now i decided to make a break from playing AoW4 game and return back when new DLC comes out, however still want to maintain these mods properly and i might be unable to catch everything on my own.

Mod updated, more in description and changelog.

Hello! I saw a good idea in a similar but slightly less capable mod. The two don't work together, so I'm asking if you could add one more change? Reduce the cooldown of hero pool refresh to 1 turn on the hero recruitment screen.
Moon Horse 17 Nov, 2024 @ 6:06am
I like this variant the most. Still a great power boost.
SkyPhoenixZ1  [author] 13 Nov, 2024 @ 8:36am
My bad... To be honest i forgot i reduced the price to refund all used skill points on a characters. The price is 5 imperium per spent skill point. Updating the mod is unnecessary at this point and will update the descriptions of my mod right away. Anyway good idea.
Tom Cormie 12 Nov, 2024 @ 9:02pm
I like what I read. Could you supplement both versions with a Free or cheap (5-10% of the original) skill reset option? I hate how the heroes you pick up during the game come with completely idiotic random abilities. I have to start with a skill reset with them, and then you can re-talent at a horrible price.
SkyPhoenixZ1  [author] 12 Nov, 2024 @ 1:01pm
done, if someone wants +2 skill points per level, you can check out variant 2 of my mod.
Okami 12 Nov, 2024 @ 10:05am
I see, thanks for the help!
SkyPhoenixZ1  [author] 11 Nov, 2024 @ 10:42pm
@Okami

1. yeah i felt that additional variant of my mod is needed with instead you gain more skill points per level. I gonna upload it later.

2. Make sure to check load order, you have mod after mine which modifies the same label in same category in HeroGlobalSettings.rpk, it overwrites part of my work and therefore removes item forge extra infusion points.
Okami 11 Nov, 2024 @ 7:29pm
Also, in my case im not getting the 10 infusion points
Okami 11 Nov, 2024 @ 4:31pm
This mod just needs 2 skillpoint per level and it would be perfect
