I thought it said Abusive Relationships and I thought "Jesus christ what the fuck"
Subbed, love the idea.
JACK 4 Aug @ 12:56pm
if, for instance, a pawn already has a child and adopts another child, will the two children automatically be adopted siblings or do ALL the relationships need manually added?
lydocia  [author] 23 Jul @ 10:59am
@Pingy junk

It will not unless you remove those manually yourself!
Pingy junk 22 Jul @ 7:05pm
Will this mod overwrite preexisting bio relationships? My pawn saved their nephew and he joined the colony. id lovee to make them adoptive parent and son but I dont want to overwrite them being bio uncle n nephew.

@L. Velociraptor

Platonic Relationships has been updated. :-)
L. Velociraptor 22 Jul @ 2:36am
@lydocia - Thank you!!! I appreciate it a ton!
lydocia  [author] 22 Jul @ 1:37am
@DuckGoosebear PrairieDogLover

and I love you for loving them! :D
lydocia  [author] 22 Jul @ 1:37am
@Miss Bonafide

Seems like that mod might override the default settings. That's on their end, not something I can account for.
lydocia  [author] 22 Jul @ 1:36am
@L. Velociraptor

Ooh, that is actually very cute! It would work better within Platonic Relationships, I think, but consider it added the next time I push an update!
L. Velociraptor 21 Jul @ 6:26pm
I love both of your relationship mods, thank you for making them!

If you don't mind the suggestion; What would you think about a kinda generic "adopted family" or "chosen family" with no boost or a boost similar to cousin or something small like that? I know you have the platonic relationships so maybe it'd work better there, just a small thing I though I'd suggest for different family styles.
Miss Bonafide 21 Jul @ 4:24pm
I think there's a soft incompatibility with turkler's "intimacy" mod. One of my pawns was boinking her adoptive son :(
I love your mods so thanks so much
lydocia  [author] 12 Jul @ 5:08pm
@wydscum

I would like to, but I'm having trouble uploading mods to the Steam Workshop right now.
I will look into updating and fixing the error tomorrow!
wydscum 12 Jul @ 4:59pm
since you removed the 1.5 tag it doesn't work for that version :( I gotta play 1.5 until my mods update, could you add it back please :D
lydocia  [author] 25 Jun @ 11:19pm
@Zergologist

I don't have 1.6 myself yet, so I can't test it myself - but as far as I know, this should not conflict with anything and should just work in 1.6.
Zergologist 25 Jun @ 2:52pm
could this be updated for 1.6?
lydocia  [author] 31 May @ 12:26pm
@Skullito

Happy to see you've found it, but for others with the same question: you have to change the gender icon on top, of the window.
Skullito 31 May @ 11:27am
Nevermind I found it sorry. >.>
Skullito 31 May @ 11:24am
It's me or we cannot add a adoptive mother? I have the option for all dad or oncle but not aunt, grandma or mother or even sister
lydocia  [author] 11 May @ 5:18am
@Deankiller Turnupseed

For this kind of mod, no.
Deankiller Turnupseed 11 May @ 4:44am
@lydocia fair. how do you edit rimworlds xmls? are modding tools needed?
lydocia  [author] 11 May @ 1:36am
@Deankiller Turnupseed

Not at this time, that's more programming than I'm willing to invest.
Deankiller Turnupseed 10 May @ 6:27pm
is there a version where it can happen naturally?
lydocia  [author] 22 Apr @ 4:23am
@Gaazhagens

Enjoy, thanks for adopting the orphans!
Gaazhagens 22 Apr @ 4:02am
That sounds perfect! Thank you! :)
lydocia  [author] 22 Apr @ 12:39am
@Gaazhagens

You can have as many adoptive relationships as you want, there are no limits in place!

And yes, there is a relationship boost based on the relationship so in that regard there are "gameplay effects", but nothing more complicated than that.
Gaazhagens 21 Apr @ 2:52pm
This is something I have been hoping for with same gender couples. Would it still work for two fathers or two mothers to be the "adoptive father/mother," or will it cause an error if more than one pawn is designated the same relation title?

Also, I was curious: you say it is just a cosmetic mod, and I understand there are no gameplay differences like inheritances. But the relation causes increased platonic affection between the pawns, correct? That is all I am hoping for, just a "you're my special little found family on the Rim" type of adoptive family feeling. Thank you so much for this mod!
lydocia  [author] 16 Apr @ 12:17am
@DispenserDev

At this point in time, it's not implemented. It's just a visual roleplaying mod.
I haven't done any coding on this mod, but I'll keep this in mind for when I do.
DispenserDev 15 Apr @ 11:17pm
I have a Female pawn and her daughter sleep in the same room, but I made another pawn who's a kid the Mother's adoptive son, and the daughter's relationship with him as adoptive brother, and I made him sleep in the same room too, and it became a barracks so they all get a mood debuff. I was wondering if I did something wrong or if this was even implemented? Because if not I was hoping it could be.
lydocia  [author] 13 Apr @ 10:43pm
@GabyGaby
That's okay, I should probably include some sort of tutorial on how to use Character Editor (but then again, that might be the CE devs' responsibility instead of mine).
GabyGaby 13 Apr @ 2:01pm
Oh, I feel silly. It is not the pov problem, I just didn't notice the gender switch in the character editor. Then you can choose an adoptive daughter.

My fault. Great mod, thanks
lydocia  [author] 13 Apr @ 11:08am
@GabyGaby

That is really strange, it should be there.

You are selecting it from the father's pov, right?
From her pov, you can't add a daughter because she's a child.
GabyGaby 13 Apr @ 11:02am
Ratkin colonist, she is 14y old. I managed to make an Adoptive father, but the adoptive daughter is not on the character editor. So I used Add Pawn Relationship to add her as an adoptive daughter
lydocia  [author] 13 Apr @ 2:26am
@GabyGaby

Do you have a male pawn selected?
GabyGaby 12 Apr @ 10:58pm
I cannot see "adoptive daughter" in the options.
lydocia  [author] 12 Mar @ 1:42am
@Born Of Birch

Good to hear you got it to work, at least.
Born Of Birch 11 Mar @ 4:23pm
I haven't figured out what's doing it, using "Add Pawn Relationship" in dev mode worked fine though.
lydocia  [author] 11 Mar @ 4:11am
@Born Of Birch

That's really strange, keep me posted?
Born Of Birch 10 Mar @ 5:34pm
For some reason Prepare Carefully just doesn't allow me to add the relationship.
The option is there, it just doesn't work.

I should be able to add it in development mode hopefully.
lydocia  [author] 9 Mar @ 5:51am
@sheeps

Happy to hear you love this option as much as I do!
sheeps 8 Mar @ 9:15pm
not dumb at all! i haven't had any issues so far and i run a good number of mods.
speaking of mods, this is a great one! theres a mod that allows other factions to request to adopt an orphan from your colony but i really wanted one that would allow my colonists to officially adopt one of the many refugee children they took in. thanks for this, it really scratched an itch i've had since before biotech back when you had to use children and learning :^)
lydocia  [author] 5 Mar @ 11:04pm
@sheeps

Thanks for that input, I'll make sure to check it out next time I play.
I didn't know / realise, but I thought it only did vanilla things which, in hindsight, was a dumb assumption on my end.
sheeps 5 Mar @ 5:16pm
you can also use dev mode to edit the relationships of colonists :^)
no need character editor or prepare carefully unless you've disabled dev mode!
lydocia  [author] 28 Feb @ 10:30am
@cyu4770

Very welcome, thank you for adopting the orphans!
cyu4770 28 Feb @ 8:53am
Ah thank you for making this!! It’s one of those “didn’t know I needed it” type mods. I’ve definitely had it happen a couple times where I forgot vanilla didn’t let pawns adopt kids & then been disappointed when a new child in my colony is wandering around without a family. Much appreciated!!
lydocia  [author] 27 Feb @ 11:47pm
@Mike

Absolutely get it! Fingers crossed that your save is safe and your kid can get adopted!
Mike 27 Feb @ 4:24pm
I indeed have character editor, I also have a long history of breaking my saves by adding one small mod or another mid save. Not saying your mod is a risk, just say modding mid save is cursed.
lydocia  [author] 27 Feb @ 5:00am
@Mike

Good story!

This mod on its own shouldn't break anything, but you will need Character Editor to actually use it!
Mike 26 Feb @ 5:24pm
I typically do all i can to avoid children in rimworld. Then a 9 year old girl with paralytic abasia and with my ideology landed in my colony. normally I just let them die but my character I use as my starting colonist isn't enough of a bastard to let a kid die. Long story short I have the mechanoid mod installed that adds ships hat land on the planet and make things worse. I get a warning for critical levels of mech activity so I send out all three of my pawns. I also use questionable ethics and do lots of cloning, my dumb ass forgot someone has to maintain the cloning vats, shortly after I get the warning for the vats while my pawns are days away on the war path the child stands up having healed, and proceeds to barely scrape by maintaining the vats. Kid is tough as nails and her nickname was nails when she landed. I am risking the integrity of my game to install this mod mid play through to adopt the little bastard.
lydocia  [author] 20 Feb @ 4:21am
@_baseplate

I agree, which is why I made it so that it wouldn't happen.
