Second time, Barney found the November and Foxtrot on it's own. the November died right away but while focused on hunting the Foxtrot missed the THIRD sub which put four torpedoes into Barney at point blank range.... RUDE
1) thank you so much for all your videos on naval warfare on many games (especially cold waters, war on the sea and the absolute jewel : Uboat, my favorite), I watch them for many hours and I love the way you do it (except about naughty map contact on Uboat wich spoil so much...)
On my part, I'm more a technicien than a story teller, I speak a bad english with french accent so it's not for me :op
2) please please please, do not use the "trained" skill for AI, use at least the "veteran" or even "ultra". AI are really idiot on so called "trained" settings.
Thank you again for your work.
SPOILER : DO NOT WATCH THIS BEFORE YOU PLAY IT PLEASE !

The difference with my first version ?
I had to cry out loud : "hey ho ! I'm here !!! Please send me torps so I can fire back !" with a sonar ping.
I usually NEVER use active sonar, because It's the BEST way to give away you ID as ennemy, you position, and active have too short range.
I use active only if ROE, like here, force me to do so.
But you can see there is absolutely no significant difference between my first version and this one.
Except "role playing"...
SPOILER : DO NOT WATCH THIS BEFORE YOU PLAY IT PLEASE !

I made a mistake editing this message and erased it...
in short : do not use active, it will give your ID as ennemy.
In the case you are mentionning, the sub WON'T launch torps, so, what is the point ?
Are the sub in this mission on weapon hold ? no...
You dislike the way I engaged the subs ?
I already mentionned the goal of this video is to show how to do a buoy pattern, quickly and efficiently.
Do I have to say it again and again and again ?
I already said, in the comments of this video, I'm not interested in role playing, I'm interested in technique and tactics, and on what I saw, lots of people need to learn basics on how to do it the right way...
What's makes wonders, is when people understand the purpose of a video and don't argue childishly.
A quick google search does wonders
in the briefing : "occasionally harassing it with signaling depth charges"...
So, you ALREADY fired at the target, you lost it, and now you choose to let the target engage you first.
Can you give a single historical example of this kind of thing ?
What you dislike is me to shoot at him as soon as I detect him. And I used the Knox helo... because it was there ^^.
But the purpose of this video was to show, very quickly (I did it in 1 mn) how you can detect a sub contact with buoy even in the worst weather, that's why I choose this scenario (to prove a point to someone saying it's "too hard" to find a sub with buoy).
If you don't like the 2nd minute, just stop to watch at the first minute, because this is NOT a tutorial to learn how to avoid torpedoes, this is a tutorial to learn how to make a good and fast efficient buoy pattern.
I will do a tutorial on torpedoes avoidance, on a specific scenario where I could show all the steps.
The Barney incident in 2mn :
https://youtu.be/wOdwKZ7csMQ
Decent Scenario, very straight forward not much to it but it was enjoyable.
Could do make a mission like this one but from the Reds point of view?? Like with an Udaloy hunting US SSNs? Thanks in advance.
I needed 8 sonobuoy and 10 mn of game to sink the 2 subs on first try at X20 or X30, the time sonobuoy pattern is done and then the subs pop ups.
Too easy because area is too small, and no replayability cause they seems to be at the same spot each time (I don't know yet about random possibilities in the mission editor...).
Of course, the ship inside must go to stop at start and do not use active sonar, and wait for the sonobuoys pattern of the helo.
Once subs are detected, it's over for them with ASROC or Mk46, in 1mn.
But thank you for this very short mission wolfpack ;op
Also release some of the other scenarios i have seen you make and play pretty please
